Foreword Conquering, holding, daring. adventuring as we go the unknown ways- Pioneers! O. Pioneers! To honor the memory of Daniel Boone, who more than two centuries ago established landmarks of history in our state, it seems fitting that such an inspiration should be the expression of our year-book. With this same pioneer spirit, our achievements in making school history have been in the form of a trail-blazing, with its trail- guides, adventures, conquests, and fun. n' . . Page Twenty-might Senior Class History The day before September 15, 1926. There was not a noise to be heard in I-. H. S.- Not euen a Freshman. Have you ever thought of an army with its ability to take green privates into its service and transform them into well-disciplined soldiers for national de- fense? Have you ever thought of a school army? Old L. H. S. may be compared to an army with the students constituting the army of soldiers who are being prepared to iight the battle of life. Four years ago, over one hundred very green Freshmen entered L. H. S.: and as soldiers have to undergo a period during which they are privates. like- wise the Freshmen had to undergo a period, not less endurable, during which they were privates. They soon became accustomed with the routine of school life since they had been watching the well-informed Sophs and had been told to follow the dignilied Seniors. Our class was divided into three sections with Miss Walker. Miss Mitchell and Mr. Greason in command. Several boys showed interest in football. As corporals or Sophomores of this school army, we entered school over- flowing with joy to have a bar on our arms, distinguishing us from the noisy Freshmen. We furnished material for football. basketball and baseball. Then with the coming of our Junior year we were authorized to wear two bars on our arms in this army. We elected James Raper, Commander: Mary Louise Moffitt, Vice-Commander: Louise McCarn, Secretary: and Stokes Adderton. Treasurer, We produced as stars on the football team, Lonnie Davis. Dermont Hedrick, James Raper, O. C. Wilson and George Mauney. Probably the most important event of the year was the Junior-Senior Banquet, which was prepared under the leadership of Miss Zealy, Miss Walker and Miss Cov- ington. With our Senior year came the last stage of our preparation for the expef dition of life. Vsfe were divided into two sections under the command of Miss Miller and Miss Griffin. The main events of this year were the organization of a Student Government with Lonnie Davis as president, and the issuance of an annual. As the curtain is being lowered we make one exit as shining lieutenants- in-command of a company of soldiers: and with the colors of our alma mater flying high we are ready to make the expedition into the unknown vicissitudes of life.
