Due to increased enrollment two lunch periods Language instructors display new laboratory equipment were created. in Building C. I 964-65 Sees Progress As 132 seniors turned the tassels of their caps and became graduates of Lexington High School, a year of progress came to a close. The 1965 graduating class was the largest in the history of L.H.S. This was the class that broke tradition. Baccalaureate ceremonies were combined with june second commencement exercises. The class rejected the usual navy and white robes and favored burgundy and white robes that corresponded to class colors. Because of the large number of seniors with high academic ratings, eight honor students were named in addition to salutatorian Mary Lee Hofacre and valedictorian Mary Beth McClurg. Nineteen sixty -four and sixty -five saw increased high school enrollment of 429 students and the addition of Building C, which houses Lexington's first modern language laboratory, an industrial arts shop, three classrooms, and a high school music room. Speech Club, Electronics Club, Librarians' Club, and a golf team joined Lex's list of extra -curricular activities, and mechanical drawing and electronics increased the growing curriculum offered students. Luz Maria Dominguez brought the culture of South America to Lexington as the school's second exchange student. Lexington continued its journey on the road of progress.
