Finnigan has been quoted as saying, I've always been a firm believer in the fact that scholastics come first and athletics second. when the day comes that educational values are played down in our schools, that's the day I want to give up coaching. Eddie still makes his home in Berea, Ohio, with his wife Marion and daughter Sharon. He is a member of the Berea Board of Education. For the past 17 years he has been statistician for the National Professional Football League. This is Finnigan's 25th year in college coaching. He spent 18 of these years at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, mainly as a track coach and orator on the banquet circuit. Finnigan closes all of his speeches with his golden rule: It is very easy to be ordinary but it takes courage to excel, and we must excel. As I, Lois Burkepile, shut the door and look over the passenger list, I sse that most of my old classmates are on this trip. The first people I see are Bob Crowl, the pilot, and Sue Garverick, co-pilot, they're ready to blast off as soon as Clyde Stringfellow, the engineer, gives them the signal. Right now Clyde is talking to Stan Daugherty, famous rocket ship dealer, who wants to make duals standard equipment on all rocket ships. The rocket has just taken off and Jean Haspeslaugh, the Moonline's head nurse, has her hands full with Rich Cochran, owner of his own basketball team, the Cochran Cavaliers, and Dick Kinney, his assistant. Dean Cobem and Coralee Curphey, the earth's most famous clown team, try to divert their attention w'ith the help of Jim Etzwiler, the current teenage idol. After being space borne, the passengers amuse themselves by getting together and talking about their reasons for going to the moom. Barbara Bostic, who owns a dairy fann is going to the moon to get the recipe for green cheese. Forrest Foust, who was voted earth's most successful farmer, along with Donald Schenk, his foreman, are going to the moon to set up the first experiment station. Danny Rinehart, the only turkey farmer left on earth, wants to experiment with a new breed of turkeys. Nancy Linton, famous woman pilot since she switched from sailors to pilots, has gone up front to talk to the pilot. Many of them are going to the moon to start a business. Among these are Janet Clapsaddle, who wants to open a school and teach lunar social graces, and Sand'e Yoakum, who is going to open a school. fjitter-buggingj Rose Marie Kleri plans to open her own motel and Ruth Ann Hampton wants to start her own apple orchard. Patty Long wants to open the first Neisners store. Janet Kilgore already has a fleet of jet propelled taxis and is engaged in conference with Tom Pittenger and Donald Hopton, who specialize in lunar hot-rods. Isolated from the rest are Paul Cordrey, who has written his own constitution and set up his own govemment, and George Volz, his bodyguard. Mary Lehnhart, public speaker, practices the next speech she'll give in favor of Cindy Oblinger, Cindy was a world famous politican until she was defeated in the last election. Over in the comer, Elsie Long is making eyes at Lowell Volz, movie star. Elsie wants to see if there really is a man in the moon. Phyllis Hershner, Lowell's co-star, is in conference with Syvilla Enck, her agent, and Ralph Mueller, movie producer of R M Studios. They plan to make an on the scene movie entitled Out of This World. Meanwhile, Ruth Cramer, make-up artist for R M Studios, asks Judy Grogg's advice. Virginia Crabbs, typist for Bill Skelton, author of several best sellers, has brought her portable typewriter along. Janie Fuhrer, who plans to enter a beauty contest when she gets to the moon, relaxes while Judy Grogg, an exclusive beautician, fixes her hair. Barb Cooper, script writer is going to use a true experience of Helen Carver, first woman diamond prospector, for her next broadcast. Myron Shaffer, jockey, orders a special diet. It seems he weighs too much on earth, but on the moon he'll be several pounds lighter. Speaking of the athletic, Lorene Wiles, who now coaches a championship swimming team, the Space Splashers, and Carol Walters, her manager, worry over June Raney, star swimmer. It seems that June has become light-headed in this high altitude and they are afraid it will make her float too much. Ruth Dill and Marilyn Edwards, co-owners of the Space Trotter Volleyball Team, occupy themselves by blowing up volleyballs Marcia Doehla, fabulous clothes designer, Qshe designs clothes for girls 5'7 or overj shrieks at Arilla Shane, her seamstress. Arilla put a tuck where a pleat should have been. In the last seat, Darlene Smith, marriage counselor, tries to comfort Sandy Spade, who lost everything in the last stock market crash. There is the red light, fasten your seat belts everybody. x 27 Superlatives MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED Jean and Bill Jean Haspeslaugh and Bill Skelton possess all the essentials of success. Jean, who plans to enter nursing, has the virtues of determi- nation and good sense. Bill, who plans to enter the ministry, exemplifies industry and inge- nuity. The surest way not to fail is to deter- mine to succeed. CLASS CLOWNS Coralee and Dean Two of the livliest people at L.l-LS., Coralee Curphey and Dean Cobem always find time to provide laughs for their classmates. Both competently played comedy parts in the senior class play. Wit is the salt of conver- sation. 28 MOST ATHLETIC Lorene and Clyde Lorene Wiles and Clyde Stringfellow are not only good athletes, but also well-rounded students. Lorene, president of G.A.A., plans to major in Physical Education in college. Clyde, varsity basketball captain, will enter the field of engineering. Every man is the builder of a temple, called his body. I98 MOST BASI-IFUL Carol and Don Carol Walters and Donald Schenk combine their shyness with a pleasant way.
