Lexington High School, as a part of society, is an intricate mixture of the old and the new. Our structure has changed with the transfer of the eighth grade to Lylburn Downing and with the start of additions at the high school. We have gained a new principal and new members of the faculty. The composition and leadership of the student body has changed. New rules, methods, traditions, and programs have been begun and we feel that advancement has been the pervading spirit of this year. Nevertheless, our basic ideals and aims remain the same. Our new programs and institutions still strive to establish a balanced experience of scholastic, athletic, and social activities. We have relied upon the wisdom and experience gained in the past. Our leadership strives to build the same spirit and unity which we have long shown. Wisdom and basic ideals have provided the foundation for our advancement. We believe that much has been accomplished and will continue to be accomplished through our reliance on the valuable things of the past and our endeavor to improve through fresh, new ideas. 3
