The en- thusiasm of F.H.A. members shines through in all they do, and they do a lot... style shows for the nursing home residents, teacher appreciation days, doughnut sales, and projects galore. One of the principal activities is one known as the Star Event (Students taking action for recognition). Star events enable members of F.H.A. to demonstrate profi- ciency and achievement in chapter pro- jects, leadership, skills, and occupational preparation. This year’s Star Event par- ticipants were Lisa Bridgeford, Ann Heck, Mary Kay Sharp, Renee Seaton, and Glen- da Skinner. F.H.A. offers programs that can be worked on individually, competitively and cooperatively. The F.F.A. is a largely self-funded organization, mainly on the strength of their sausage sales, though this year mark- ed the first “slave sale”, an event which was very successful. A newly completed building for the F.F.A. and agriculture students was opera- tional in January of 1987. The next project is a new “show barn” which will be com- pleted in the near future. Why are these people smiling? ... Because thanks to them, LHS has been on even BET- TER place to be. Among the notable achievements of this year’s student council have been the production of an anti-drug use film, a very successful blood drive, a canned food drive, the football and basketball homecoming activities, and sponsorship of a basketball homecoming dance, which featured video music, and the annual “door decorating” con- test. By showing their pride in LHS, the student council has helped all of us increase our pride in our school.
