THE BEARER LEXINGTON SCHOOL — LEXINGTON, ALABAMA Volume 35 Emerging from the darkness the sun is on its way. Bringing forth its light marking my first school day. The day is very young as you can see. But each beginning is like that, as it was meant to be. EDITOR Regina Davis BUSINESS MANAGER Julia Michael PHOTOGRAPHER Gary Smifh 3 5 Recalling the smiles and laughter, that although sometimes hidden in the deepness of our depressions, could always be brought to surface with a little persuasion. At times we wondered: is it really worth it? But looking back on what seemed like endless hours of practicing, working, and studying, we realize that these things are what helped to mold us into the individuals that we are. 8 9 Our days and nights were encircled in a constant panorama of ballgames, parties, and club projects. Each of us chose our own form of self-expression. For some of us if was music; for of hers, afhlefics or arf. For some, if was simply spending a few quief momenfs wifh a good book. Homecoming vs. Waynesboro was next, resulting in a 33-0 victory. Then we defeated Hatton for the first time in a long while. Next came West Morgan and we pulled out a 12-7 victory. Then we beat Colbert Heights 6-0, despite their brutal defense. We then traveled to Loretto and defeated the third Tennessee team of the year. Then came Rogersville. our biggest rival. The young Bears really showed their potential in, for some, their first taste of varsity football action. They played teams that were exceedingly larger, but they played like true Bears and came out victors every game. They defeated Lawrenceburg and Pulaski, two Tennessee teams that were both physically larger. They also played two pre-season scrimmages with Loretto and Pulaski and faired well. This team gives our avid Bear fans something to think about in the future. Hammond and Hall lead Waddell downficld against Lawrenceburg. Front: Lemay. Glover. Truitt. Hester. Richardson. Hill. Hall. They were often called a scrappy, hustling team that would really get after it.” Although the tallest Bears were only 6'1 . the determination and winning attitude made up the differ- ence. Some highlights for the team were defeating Rogersville twice by one point. Rogersville had defeated the Bears earlier, but we had our sweet revenge. Also defeating Hatton ranked high in the state and defeating 3A powerhouse Russellville by one point at Lexington highlighted the year. The seniors showed good leadership for the team.
