White, our principal, we leave our deep appreciation that he did not completely murder all of us during this trying first year as principal of LHS! ITEM II: To our assistant principal, Mr. McMeans, and to our secretary, Myra Porter, we leave thanks for the many times you have written us excuses to enter class late and to leave early during school hours. ITEM III: To Mrs. Springer, we leave gratitude for many hours of hard work on the '66 edition of the Bearer. ITEM IV: To the faculty, who have been much too wonderful for words to explain, we leave just plain Thanks 7 ITEM V: To our underclassmen, we leave the task of graduating, empty spaces which must be filled, and all our devil- ment we cannot mention because it might tend to incriminate us. I, Macklin Pettus, will ole L.H.S. to my underclassmen for better or worse. I, Jimmy Davis, leave my ability to read library books and neglect my homework to Danny Nunley. (At least you can have a good report for Mrs. Cagle.) I, Nora East, leave my books to anyone who can get more out of them than I did. I, Charles Butler, leave my excuses for days absent from school to Charles Shoemaker. I, Allen (Squeeky) Garner, leave my ability to constantly smoke cigars to Steve Tate. I, Linda Smith, leave my used Southern Drawl to Pam Cottrell. I, Mark Williams, leave my roving eye to Donnie Smith, although he has one of his own. I, Gary Hammond, leave my 20-20-20-figure to William Howard. I, Candice Malone, will my appetite to Dianne Walker and Linda Beavers. I, Edward Killen, leave my old-age pension to Noah Springer. He'll need it by the time he gets out of this place! I, Catherine Mancuso, leave my natural black hair to Regina Green, and Wanda Darby. I, Tommy Belew, leave my extensive vocabulary to David Adomyetz. I, David White, leave my typing ability to Roger Shelton. When he reaches 20 words per minute he can give it to Tim Stone. We, Anthony Balch and Larry Hammond, leave our love for sports to Larry English and Freddie Hughes. I, Hilda Owens, will both ends of the hall to fellow student council members Barbara Hill and Barbara Parker. (Happy hall-watching girls.) I, Ted Hammond, will my ability to loaf in class and still pass to Jimmy Worsham. I, James Richardson, will my ability to get eight people in the cab of my truck to Wyatt Pettus. I, Joyce Ezell, will my ability to speak only when spoken to, to June Slaton. We, Hilda Howard and Kay Hill, leave our ability to take dictation that can never be transcribed to Wilda Hunt and Jane Herston. I, Linda Newton, will my loud mouth to my sister Donna, although she doesn't need it. We, Racheal Story, Linda Sharp, Peggy McGee, Linda Hill, Barbara Barnett, and Ann Marcus, will our ability to be young housewives to Sherry Griffin, Cathy Chandler, and Phyllis Richardson. I, Myra Howard, will my happy-go-lucky personality and athletic ability to Pam Walker. I, Margaret Johnston, will my specs to Janice Pettus. I, Vellaree Newton, leave my becoming shyness to Shirley Balentine. We, Dennis Collier, Waylon Cottles, and William Joe Cox, leave nothing to no one, as we have nothing that we feel we can live comfortably without. I, Jean Campbell, leave my big mouth and gift of gab to Linda Cottrell, Janice Tate, and Sue Campbell. I, Larry Haney, will all my un-called for remarks to James Earl Cox, Jerry Howard, and Dwain Sandlin. We, Ann Mewbourn and Mary Ann Ellis, will our petite figures to Pat Belew and Bonnie Pettus. We, Shirley Hammond, Margaret Paxton, will our good grades to Shelia Walton and Jean Thompson. (Put it to good use girls!) We, Ray Putman and Dan Springer, leave our Boy Scout suits to Jackie Killen and Ray Cody. We, Ann Parker, Faye King, and Wilma Williams leave our cheerleading ability and popularity to Peggy Hammond and Dianne Williams. We, Gayther Thigpen and Hollis Ezell, will our quiet but frisndly ways to Ronald Beavers, Lloyd Hodges, and Larry Joe Putman. I, Douglas Trousdale, leave my secret to have more fun than anybody else and still pass my work to Buddy Stutts, Dennis Gooch, and Charles Lash. I, Sherry Jones, leave my crazy remarks and continuous giggles to Frieda Etheridge and Phyllis Murks. We, Linda Hice and Brenda Harlon, will our blonde hair to Nelda Garrett, Brenda Tate, and Patricia Sewell so that they won't have to purchase any hair lighteners. We, Judy Truitt, and Sybil Clemmons, leave our sweet and friendly ways to Phyllis Brown, Paulette Clemmons, and Stella Holden, because they are already well advanced in that category. I, Robert Gordon, will my popularity with Mr. Schell to Dwight McCain. I, Douglas Williams, leave my position as President of the senior class to Dennis Balch. 165 I, O'Neal Haney will my misfortunes to Dexter Newton. I, David Newton, just hope to leave. We, David Balentine and Hollis Ezell, leave our hidden talents to Larry Pettus. (Hope you'll be able to find them.) I, Tyrone Brown, would like to leave Glen Cole something, but I don't have anything that he needs. I, Ricky Hamner, leave—walking fast! We, Betty Beavers and Maelene Jones, leave our quiet but friendly ways to Jewel Shelton and Patricia McMurtrey. I, Doris Nell Richardson, leave—pursuing happiness as an average American housewife. I, Sandra Liverett, leave my humor to Paulette Putman and Sherry Wells. I, Connie Greene, leave to join my boyfriend who lies over the ocean. I, Faye Putman, leave my position in the honor society to Patsy Greer. I, Dianne McCain, will my pleasantness to Peggy Fields. I, Joan Weaver, leave the good ole days to Marlin Dison. I, Sheliah Ray, leave my musical talents to Robert Porter and Terry Allen. (Good luck with the fiddle, Terry.) I, Peggy Cole, will my love for a special companion to Lindon Wright and Melda Burbank. I, Kathy Richardson, will my good nature to Jean Newton. I, Mary Ann Ellis, will my black hair to Betty Parker in case she ever wants to change. I, Sara Joiner, will my ability to make money as a senior representative to anyone brave enough to attempt it. I, Terry Barnett, will my irresistible charm to Dwight Brumley. I, Ronald Barnett, will my honor as the most handsome senior to Jerry Pruitt. I, Doris Jean McCafferty, leave a bottle of headache pills to the unfortunate person who has the task of writing the last will and testament next year. Doris Jean McCafferty Prophecy As Charlie Chann would put it, Herro there! Due to my psychic powers and the task entrusted to me, I deem it an honor to allow each of my fellow classmates a preview of their later life. Since my powers of premonition are stronger with the aid of my crystal ball, its use I shall employ, if I can only find the darn thing! Having found it among some of my old junk, I shall now proceed to give each of you a startling look into the future. Waylon Cottles, Springfield's renowned brain surgeon, is adding a mortuary as an extension to his office. Terry Barnett is the only member of my distinguished class to attain prominence in national television. He's the new Captain Kangaroo on CBS. The world was shocked to learn that Barbara Barnett is presently Mr. Green Jeans. Jimmy Davis donated himself to science toward experiments concerning the effects of liquor on the human body. Linda Newton is the reliable private secretary of banker, financier, Douglas Williams. It seems that Larry Hammond retired from major league baseball a short time ago after a long and colorful career. Larry must have set some sort of record for bases stolen (during batting practice, that is). Robert Gordon is now a common place coffee house poet. Good ole Hilda Faye Owens has become quite successful and has distinguished herself as far as comediennes go. Her act really draws the laughter, although she only recites the Gettysburg Address. Her Co-worker, Ted Hammond, sits on the back row and chuckles, snickers, and more or less rolls, of course his laughter is contagious. Margarett Paxton is really going places in the stock market. It's certainly nice to see that Ronnie Barnett is still highly thought of! He was recently voted Mostly likely to Es- cape by his cellmates at Kilby. Hollis Ezell is probably the best prunepicker ever to graduate from good old L.H.S. Tommy Belew, land king of this area, has been attempting to purchase the small part of Colbert he doesn't already own. There isn't a lot of truth to the business about Tommy's evicting old widows and orphans to expand his empire, but then I don't suppose he calls it the Plunderosa for nothing. David White, the meanest sargeant in the Marines, is planning to make a recording entitled The Mean Green Br-r- raying Marine. Faye King, a well known sociologist, but better known for her common cure of the common disease commonly known as Jungle Rot was part of a research team studying the social environment of the Borneo cannibals when last heard of. Tyrone Brown is the lone proprietor of the Brown Taxi Co. of downtown Lexington. Allen David Garner recently set a land speed mark of 987 m.p.h. He would've reached a higher speed, but alas, the chain on his bicycle broke. As assistant editor of the Florence Times, Shirley Hammond recently composed and printed a stirring article about the corrupt city government. Lawyer Faye Putman is defending her in court. Edward Killen is now your friendly door to door dump-truck salesman. Larry Light-fingers Haney is the only pick pocket in the business with the nerve to pick a policeman's pocket. If you need a new or used car, just stop in at Hill and Mewbourn car lot, owned by Kaye Hill and Ann Mewbourn, beneath the bright yellow lemon sign. I guess it's a complex, but Candice Malone has the largest commercial fishery on Mill Creek. 166 Nora East is manger-owner of the Progressive Peppertown Peppermint Packaging Pompany. Kathy Richardson, poet laureate (of this area), is best known for her Ode to a Sweet Ole Wart Hog (named George). With all due respect, we must admit that Ann (Nolan) Marcus' attempted bank robbery was planned with a touch of genius. Had not the get-a-way car run out of gas, I'M certain it would've been a success. Jerry Hill suffered a mental set back, joined the boy scouts, and is currently helping little old ladies cross the street (where there isn't a red light). Jerry has a complex against little old ladies and thinks thats a neat way to get rid of them. After fifteen years as bottle inspector at the Dr. Pepper Plant, Wilma Williams is now about to complete her novel How the Surveyor Felt Caught in the Conveyor Belt. Doug Trousdale, who used to shop lift for a hobby, was so dog-gone good at it he turned pro. Then there's the Beavers Trucking Service, owned, operated, and driven by Betty Beavers. Sybil Balentine Clemmons and Margarett Johnston made it in the movies. If you'll look closely you'll see them, twenty third row up, three hundred and ninety seven from the left in the baseball scene of Blunder Ball. Ray Putman's membership in the communist party is actually only a front, his real occupation is that of secret janitor. The nation still hasn't recovered from the Bare as you Dare (bald) hair-do, introduced by Jean Campbell. Mark Williams is about the most competent veterinarian on the French Rivera. Myra Howard has her own physical fitness program, on the local Grassy T.V. Station. Admiral Gary Hammond of the submarine Sooner (or later) recently cracked up and had windshield wipers in- stalled. Speaking of the subject of cracking up, it certainly is comforting to know that nurse Diane McCain and Dr. James Richardson are at the mental institute near here; unfortunately, they're both patients. Dan Springer and Gayther Thigpen run the local garage and service station near Bonnertown featuring free air (mostly hot). After fifteen years as leader of a motorcycle pack, David Balentine, like so many people these days, has decided to print his memoirs entitled, Leader of the Pack or Why the Heck do Most of the Bugs Splatter on me? 'Member those lunches we used to hate so in the lunch room? Well, this seems to be an eternal widespread feeling of inmates-er-of students everywhere. Ann Parker and Macklin Pettus are about the most hated cooks that ever filled a dish at Lexington. Sheliah Ray almost lost her job as organist at the Lexington Funeral Home the other day when the urge struck her and she couldn't resist playing one of those good old Beatle songs. Speaking of funeral homes, Dennis Collier runs one of the, if you'll parden the expression, livelist funeral homes around, called GO-GO-Arama and featuring curb service. Hilda Howard is the best liked teacher ever to sit on a thumb-tack at Lexington. Brenda Harlon a short time ago published her basic philosophy about Why I Believe in Santa Claus. O'Neal Haney is the beloved fuzz for the little burg of Lexington. Joyce Ezell is probably the second best prune picker to graduate from good old L.H.S. Mary Ann Ellis and Linda Hice have been practicing medicine for twelve years. Oh! Well, practice makes perfect. A great anthropologist and lecturer, Vallaree Newton is for the most part unheard of. Doris McCafferty and Connie Greene run the Center Star Nursery School for high school drop outs who want to start all over again. A bright spot in the Sharp Construction Co., Linda Sharp is the undisputed champ bulldozer driver. Ricky Hamner, Charles Butler, and William Joe Cox are the largest sugar and yeast buyers to my knowledge. They also grow quite a crop of corn. Malene Jones won acclaim when she made the electric typewriter obsolete by her invention of the nuclear powered typewriter. Talk about pressure salesmanship, Sandra Liverett and Peggy McGee have been known to sell skate-boards to the rest home patients. Doris Richardson is planning to retire shortly on the money she embezzled-er-ah-saved while working as a teller at the First National Bank. Linda Smith's family seems to be the ideal one, as does Linda Hill's. Peggy Cole is still trying to push (sell) her Sure Fire Mouse Killers. Personally I don't think she will ever get rid of all those cats. Judy Truitt and Cathy Mancuso are waitresses at The Fester a swinging night club owned by Sara Joiner. Mad Magazine went from mad to worse when they hired Sherry Jones as a writer. Racheal Story flies her own private plane to and from work at the office. However, it is a bit impractical, since she lives but two blocks away. David Newton has a state-wide monopoly on the pay-toilet industry. And now for the big one (me)! It's coming in! Now what's that I see? Made in Japan------------price--75c. Oh well, you can't trust those K-mart crystal ball specials, I guess. We'll See Being You Anthony Balch 167
