Friendliest Most Dependable Most Polite Most Athletic X {’V Most Likely to Succeed Most Popular Neatest Last Will and Testament We the Senior Class of 1961-62, going out to face the world of today with the knowledge we obtained through Lexington High, do hereby ordain, publish, and declare this, our last will and testament, to our lower classmen and associates. ITEM I. To our principal Mr. Bailey, Vice Principal Mr. White, and our Secretary Myra Portor, we would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful understanding shown us through the years. For you three we have two words: Thank you. ITEM II. To the teachers of Lexington School, our sincerest gratitude goes to all of you for keeping us at our books when we wanted to be on the playground, and to all of you we would like to say, Thank you. ITEM III. To the Freshman and Sophomore classes, we leave the hope that your days at Lexington High will be as wonderful as ours. ITEM IV. To the Junior Class, we leave the highest title in High School, the title of A Senior. Our most treasured and personal gifts we leave to you as follows: I, James Beadle, leave my unlucky fate of getting into trouble without trying to Baron Newton. I, Danny Cottrell, leave hoping that two can live as cheaply as one. I, Pat Brown, bequeath my talked-about hairstyle to W. O. McCain. We, Ronnie Be lew and Lloyd Newton, leave our athletic ways to Dwight Gray and Gerald Micheal. I, Mary Thigpen, will my love for acting to Carolyn French and Ann Smith. I, Ann Newton, leave my artistic ability to Carolyn McGee and Betty Newton. I, Preston Portor, leave my ability to get along with teachers (with the help of my sister) to Charles Dean and David Hammond. I, William Kizer, leave my studious ways to David Newton and Joe Phillips. I, Paul Putman, leave my blushing smile to B. H. Parker and Roger Walker. I, Billy Erwin, leave, and take Herman and Horace with me. I, Larry Pettus, will my loud mouth to Randal Gray. I, Joyce Davis, leave my personality-plus to Sarah Cockrell. I, Ronnie Grisham, leave my busy ways to Don McGee. I, Ralph Peck, leave my determined but friendly ways to Jimmy Burbanks. We, Monty Gooch, Joe Hines, and Danny White leave with companionship waiting on the other side. [ 101 ] I, Barbara Ritter, leave Billy Don Thompson, and that's too much. I, Larry Johnson leave my ability to get along with others to Eddie Hammond, Ronald Killen, and Ronnie White. I, Martha Tate, leave my witty ways to Judy Howard. I, Charles Springer, leave my slow and lazy ways to Dwain Micheal and Alvin Turpen. We, James and Johnny Thigpen, leave our brotherly ways to Wayne Murks and Jimmy Gray. We, Shirley Davis, Ester Richardson, and Betty Holden leave our giggles to Barbara Allen, Carol Balch, and Geneva Thigpen. I, Barbara Johnson, leave, and take my quiet ways with me. We, Shirley Holden, Laura McGee, and Marcelle Mashburn, will our quiet personalities to Brenda Barnes, Doris Wright, and Margaret Jones. I, Royce Johns, will my ability to take kidding to Bobby Cole and Donald Mason; they need it. I, Ronnie Mitchell, leave my good times as a senior to Howard Richardson and Gary Truitt. I, Pat Gooch, leave my art of making friends to Linda Childers, Martha Eddy, and Carolyn McGee. I, Millard Shelton, leave my love for football to Jerry Howard and Ronald Walton. I, David Grider, leave my serious ways to Dwain East, Larry Richardson, and David Thigpen. We, Donna Harris and Kathy Tidwell, will all of our wonderful times as seniors to Martha White and Patsy Mewbourn. I, Bobby Hughes, leave the wonderful task of writing the 1963 Last Will and Testament to some nutty Senior next year. This year we've shared has been so true. The year we've always looked forward to. The year which never seems too real. Until we receive that last big thrill, The thrill we get when we receive Diplomas on a new world’s eve. The eve on which the new world sits Is when the thought finally hits, That we have finally made it through Twelve years we've loved so dear and true. And now our biddings and last good-bye Go to our school. Ole Lexington High. Class Poem Bobby Hughes Class Poet Billy Joe Erwin [ 102 ] Class Prophecy My! Already, it's 1982. I think I'll turn on my television and catch up on the news of my old class- mates from Lexington High. The first person I see is Ronnie Grisham, dictator of Cuba. In the crowd, I believe I see Danny White. Yes! Yes, it is! He owns a tobacco plantation there now; and there is a shot of a huge sugar plantation, owned by two who look familiar--it’s Royce Johns and Lloyd Newton. T. V. film from Russia is quite scarce, but we do have a few shots of the dictator of Russia, James Beadle, with his three sisters-in-law, Shirley Holden, Laura McGee, and Marcelle Mashburn. During the commercial, I think I'll see what's on the other channel. Oh! that's my favorite detective series, Hawaiian Eye. Paul Putman has been starring in it for years. Going back to the news, I see Charles Springer is now the President, and there is Bobby Hughes, Director of the F.B.I. He took J. Edgar's place. He is working very closely with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Joyce Davis. In Hollywood, I see Marilyn Monroe has been replaced by Lexington's own Shirley Davis. One of the top attractions in Hollywood is Billy Erwin's big twisting studio, and his wife, the former Martha Tate, and their ten red-haired children. They tell us that the two Pat's are together, Pat Gooch and Pat Brown are happily married. He is editor of the Hollywood Times. Kathy Tidwell is quite successful. She’s a model for Peck's Furriers. (He's Ralph Peck, you know). Back in Lexington, I see three of my old classmates are old maid school teachers: Esther Richardson, Betty Holden and Barbara Johnson. And there is Monty Gooch, he is principal there. Oh! There is Ronnie Belew and Ronnie Mitchell. They are playing for the Lexington Purple Bears in the American League. Oh! I always enjoy this: shots of the new super city on the moon. I see Bobby Crosswhite and David Grider are owners of a cheese factory. Joe Hines has a rocket line from Moon to Earth. There are Johnny and James Thigpen, art instructors at the new University of the Moon. They work very closely with Ann Newton and Donna Harris, who are designing billboards to be placed on the rocket route between Moon and Earth. Larry Johnson and Preston Porter have their own drag strip on the moon. Millard Shelton is singing at Mary (Moore) Thigpen's night club. I do enjoy a good evening of T.V. I can’t wait until 2002 when they're going to show a re-run. Prophet Barbara Ritter [ 103 ] .. IJJ -L U L J i ■ JJ Ul I
