If we print jokes, people say we’re silly; If we don’t, people say we’re serious. If we clip from other books. We are too lazy to write ourselves; If we don’t, we are stuck with our own stuff. If we stick to the job all day, We ought to be out hunting pictures. If we do get out and hustle. We ought to be putting first things first,. If we don’t print contributions, We don’t appreciate true genius; If we do, the book is filled with junk. If we make a change in a fellow’s write-up. We are too critical; If we don’t, we are asleep. Now like as not, someone will say We swiped this from another book... ...We didl THE 60 BEARER STAFF spring. -estival ama • £ iano o nip any. am a Norma Jean Adomyetz Merry have we met, and merry have we been; merry let us part, and merry meet again. So finally 1 got my chance and saw the members of the class of 1960 as they are in this, the year of 1980. Who do you suppose is president of our country during this year of 1980? None other than Lexington's own Harold Cottrell. Tommy Fields, a distinguished Admiral in the Navy, is faithful, though far away, to his little wife. Gilbert Hammond and Patricia Porter are raising watermelons with the help of their five little farmers. Waits Truitt is conductress of the Philharmonic Orchestra. Kay Phillips and Grant Newton are making a tour of Europe, giving educational lectures. If you remember they were Mr. and Miss Einstein of L.H.S. Elvis Williams is strong man of the Barnum and Bailey Circus, with Brenda Pettus as bareback rider. Gerald Hum and his wife bought the Palace and Mrs. Hum relieved Mrs. Sammy Newton at selling tickets. Since Sammy finally got a job she can stay at home a while. He is stock car racer for a newly formed race track located in the city limits of Lexington. It is owned and operated by Larry Comer. Betty Campbell and Martha Smith, who jointly own an art and gift shop, live together in the first glass house built in Lexington. We find Jimmy Springer living in Arabia. He couldn't make out with one wife. You know Jim-the old sneak-couldn't be satisfied with anything less than a harem. Allan Kirby has finally gathered the courage to pop the question to the one he admired all during his senior year, and Juanita Shelton, having largely accepted, will soon become a blushing bride. Junior Cox is a star chaser in Hollywood. You know he always was bubbling over with energy and had to find a way to use a little of the surplus. Frances Jones is still an old maid. This is because of her frequent hair washings. Norma Adomyetz is now Lexington's outstanding female lawyer. Faye Fields is now a psychiatrist with E.W. James as her worst patient. He is a nervous wreck due to constant refusals to his proposals of marriage. Charles Fields is in Germany in the Army of occupation. He writes, I think they forgot about me. I'm going on my 9th year of overseas duty and I'm still here! Rose Gray, Mrs. America of 1963, is now vacationing with her husband in Alaska. The new television station is owned by Mark Roberson. It seems he not only owns it, but is also announcer, director, producer and even the performer. Since he's not very good at quick changes he hired Donald Truitt as camera man. Donald Tate has taken the place of Roy Rogers in the hearts of the young movie goers. By the way he and his horse are making a personal appear- ance at the Coliseum soon. Sammy Brown is proving his talents at handling women by directing a sixty-seven girl chorus line. Two of the chorus cuties are Carolyn Davis and Brenda Balch. Robert Willis was recently crowned heavy weight champion of the world. Gerald Ritter is now working on a formula to remove the spots from a leopard. Terra Steadman and Carnelia Allen are writers for the new comedy team Betty East and Ruby Holden. Roy Crabb is a famed pilot for TWA. His route is from Lexington to Mars and back again. Speaking of out of space, Joan Lyons, Betty Thornton and Gloria Smith spent their honeymoon on the moon. J.W. Putnam is now on tour in Russia. He’s performing in better night clubs than Louis Armstrong. Ruth Mashburn, Martha King, and Jewell Beavers all have the same jobs, being good housewives and mothers. Don Howard owns one of the largest office buildings in Lexington. He has as secretaries, Joyce Smith and Pat Murks. Carolyn Newton is in Hollywood making a movie. Since her graduation she has become a very well-known actress. Treva Putman has returned to Lexington as Home Economics teacher. She always could bake good cakes. Douglas Griffin and family have moved to Hawaii, where Douglas is lifeguard on the beach at Honolulu. Branson Embry and Shelby Cockrell are still in Chicago, but I think they are coming home for a visit soon, in cars marked his and hers. Jimmie Lou Allen moved away from Lexington in June of 1960 and hasn't been seen since. Although she has been in touch with the outside world. Virginia Childers is working in New York. As for what she is doing I couldn't tell you. Judy Gamer is now running a fishing camp. She always did love that sport. Arthur Murray's dance studio hired Joyce Staggs to work for them, since she's so light on her feet. It seems there are some very successful people that came out of Lexington's class of 1960, and may I say that if you would like to look into the future sometime try a crystal ball. Signed: Glenda Robbins CLASS POEM As we walk from the doors of Lexington High, We wonder what is in store for us in the future. We will miss our many friends, but we will try to make riches and find happiness. Oh, how our thoughts wander into the far horizons. As we lift our heads and look forward, We pick our star and begin striving to reach it. We will try to make those sad heartaches happy ones. We pick our star, and we work like we have never worked before. We'll try to make that star the brightest of all.
