CLASS POEM We soon shall say our last farewell. To the many friends we've known so well, Our hearts are saddened, yet there is joy and pride. The future's before us, it's ours to decide. Our parents and teachers we would not forget, Tho' we fretted and fussed, you stood by us yet. In our joys and triumphs you were happy with us, Through our troubles and sorrows in you we could trust. Now as on the threshold of the future we stand; May we always do justly to God and to man. May God give us courage to uphold truth and right, And democracy defend with all of our might. Dear Alma Mater we must bid you farewell, We’ll remember you always, you have served us well. 68 of Jime” Future called last night, in the form of a dream, She revealed startling secrets; the 1957 Seniors were her theme. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, preachers, galore, Merchants, actors, chiefs, farmers and more! Brides old and new were her favorite topic. Janice, Evelyn, Sharon, Faye, Carlene, Janie, Claythel, I thought she'd never stop it'. The Future told me about her trip to the moon, Where Neva was enjoying a nice honeymoon. It seems the great spaceman Hi-Flying Harbert paved the way, A project he'd planned since high school day. Dear Ole Elvis Pre s le y--Future informed me, is a fallen star. Now the screams are for Elston andjiis guitar. Bob Hope too has come way down, And William Lee now presides as world's best clown. Future loves movies; she told me about HOLLYWOOD'S HANDSOME HEARTBREAKER Starring Danny Griffin and his Pepper Shakers. Seems his most frequent victim is Geraldine Garner, Who'll never be replaced by a foreigner. Signed 73 daSi Jliitor ¥ Class, hasn't it been fun? Do you remember, back in the '40’s, the tall, worldly seniors in high school, and the small feeling you got when you walked among them? , . . . the different stages, you as a typical student, experienced; the giggling stage, the stage of superiority? , . . . those strange students in the seventh grade that invaded our small world and since have broadened it somewhat? , , . . some of the earlier impressions of the person you now consider your best friend? Remember the time you got a crush on someone but nobody knew it but you? . . . . the time everybody knew about it and you wished they didn’t? . . . . the time you were thoroughly embarrassed and although you can laugh now, it was horrible then? . . . . the different personalities our teachers had, the favorites, the ones who weren't so favorable? Do you remember the various parties you attended through-out high school; and of course ole faithful Wheeler Dam Park? . . . . the rivals we had in athletics? . . . . the first time you became interested in politics? . . . . the responsibilities that were given you that you thought were too large, and how they surprisingly turned out all right? Interesting memories, aren't they? Have we survived the battles of school well enough to have gained moral knowledge, good judgment, and enough common sense to start making our own decisions? Have we equipped ourselves with sufficient intelligence to be in charge of the things we have always taken for granted? Would progress come to a halt if it depended on us? What will be our memories gained in the next twelve years? Let's hope we are capable of making them the best.
