W .vii Y 'N sm J, 1 Q S f H , 1 W , v FOREWOFID Foreword by Dean Brong LEXINGTON BAPTIST COLLEGE--A WORK OF FAITH Founded by faith, Lexington Baptist College has been supported and preserved through the years by faith, and we trust will endure by faith and in the faith until Jesus comes again. Lexington Baptist College is a direct agency of the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, under the authority and control of this church, though other churches and individuals have generously contributed financial support. Student expenses have been held to a minimum. Fees set at the beginning of the school in 1950 were nominal, and tuition charges begun in 1969 are still a fraction of those usually charged by other colleges. These low charges to students are made possible by the faithful gifts of God's people who love the truth we teach. Now in our twenty-third year, we thank God for laying it upon the hearts of His people to support the teach- ing ministry of Lexington Baptist College, the school where the Bible is taught. Tlli -al. 1. - f S THE BEAUTY OF TRUTHS The great and high Biblical truths have always been in the world, and to make these my real concern, has been my chief aim these past few years. Some have said that new associations in the order of ideas is a sign of one grow- ing older. It could also be considered acquired wisdom. These ancient truths which assume a beauty that is new to every student raise our intellectual thought and cause us to pause from time to time to reflect on this fresh light that God has imparted to us. In reflecting upon the past years of associations with Lexington Baptist College I find myself dwelling on the young Christian who had many discourses of certain high ideas that were expressed in the foolish language of her- esy: I did not know about the heresies, nor the orthodoxies. However, in respect to divine things, I have found that they are here and now. There is no day like today. The advantage of this living moment is that we can profit by yesterday's mistakes. So, I feel that this short letter should be dedicated to the teachers that have taught me that the most fatal mistake of all is concentrating on my actions without concentrating on my motives. Indeed, it must have been a laborious task to teach a practical man to throw off the material notions of this present evil world, and to make him realize that the business world is not really the entire world. 'L .sg COLLEGE CHAPEL Every morning between the time of 9:45 and 10:10 the faculty and students gather For a worship service. lt is a time of sharing one anothers burdens as well as joys in prayer, and of singing praises into the Lord. lt is some time set apart that the students may rest from the cares of the day in order that they may have a chance to rejoice in the truths they are being taught by hearing them proclaimed from behind the pulpit. Each male member of the Taculty and the students gets his op- portunity to speak in Chapel. The school is also blessed from time to time with having pattors from the surrounding areas and out of state, teachers from other sister schools, and mis- sionaries, to pay it a veit and speak in Chapel. .f ft? . The fellowship that takes place alone is a spiritual blessing. The preaching is dynamic and uplifting to the listeners, the singing elevates the soul and magnifies the Lord, and the food is delicious. This event will seem to many people just to be another song service at face value. However, when we think of what the 3ible says in Colossions 3:16 about singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord , we then realize that not everyone has this grace in their hearts to sing with, and the event takes on new significance. ,Wy f-J W ' f WJ Z! 3 M This is one of our senior students, Buddy fl-Iowardj Wilson, who will graduate in May. He is pastoring a church in North Middletown, Kentucky, which at the time of the Singspiration was yet a mission.
