And Changes New seats and visitor press box were part of the renovation at Farmer Stadium, Upcoming events were announced on the new marquee by the Student Council. David Davision displays the new wave hair style. School dances were advertised on the school bulletin board in the main hall. While traditions are an integral part of school, changes have oc- curred as well at L.H.S. New principal, Mr. Doug Killough has given the students of L.H.S. a new outlook in class participation. The new- ly installed bleachers allow more Fighting Farmer fans to see our winning football team in action. The new marquee informs all of up- coming events and activities such as the after game dances that have once again become a part of L.H.S. The new-wave music played at these dances inspires students to wear their hair and dress according to new times. These changes are just steps leading to the future. The new district brought new challenges to the Farmer sports teams but they held strong and conquered even the toughest teams.

The Traditions Tradition is important at L.H.S. Homecoming is the originator of the traditional mums that are loaded with everything a girl could im- agine. The parade, now on Thursday night before the bonfire, causes excitement throughout the town as each class hurries to finish its float. For the past several years the Senior class has won the float competition. The bonfire, always built and lit on Thursday is an in- volved project. A group of Senior boys work throughout the school day to build up the pile of wood, old boats, signs and anything else that will burn. The bonfire is a long standing event during the Homecoming festivities Mr. Doug Killough, new principal, gets into the spirit of things on Hat Day Stage Band continues to provide entertainment for various activities at L.H.S. ex i XX X

'In- l . Homecoming 1982 Homecoming reigns as the most celebrated tradition at L.H.S. Each small part of this important time comes together to make up this tradition. Mums play a big part of Homecoming. These flowers range from miniature mums to a double-mum which the girls wore to school and-to the game. On Thursday, before the game the annual parade occurs. Each student involved with his class float worked hard to make this year's parade a success. The Seniors Humpty Dumpty won the float competition while the band and drill team kept spirits high. After the parade. a community pep rally continued the nights excitement.qThe Varsity cheerleaders lead the crowd in cheers and chants as the band accompany's them. After dark the bonfire lit up the night after a day's hard work done by a selected group of senior boys. The tradi- tional boat. the S.S. Farmer, and many signs were engulfed within the flames. The excitement mounted as morning came on September 17. Homecoming was near at last!! Everyone attended this special game of the year. lt became so crowded L.H.S. students were forced to sit on the visitors side. The game was an easy victory for the Fighting Farmers football team as they ran Jesuit into the ground with a score of 42.7. The band had a special performance with a trumpet solo to add a touch of romance. The Bell Crew performed a skit after the band had played. Superman rescued our drum major from the evil Lex Luther and, finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for, the crowning of the 1982-83 Homecoming Queen. As the five senior nominees and sophomore and junior duchesses walked out onto the field with their escorts the stadium filled with silence. The announce- ment finally comes. The 1982-83 Homecoming Queen was Sissy Messina. She was crowned by Student Council President Jeff Nowak. After the game everyone went out on the town as is tradi- tional at L.H.S. Each guy takes his favorite girl to a classy, romantic spot to eat. Staying out late is a key factor to Homecoming. The festivities are over and anothergHomecoming has passed.
