V ., V All A 'iii ll V After getting your sched- ule straightened out at last, things do fall into place. Risking life and limb in the Wednesday stampede for a ham- burger and getting caught in the hall without a pass are just a few of the every- day hasslesg but sneak- ing those donuts into class makes up for them. And who knows? Maybe by the end of the year the Freshman girls will real- ize Why the boys stand at the bottom of the stairs. m ,XXSQ W.f y Mila K U W XL, The start of each day, like the start of the year, begins in one big traffic jam. Once back into the routine, however, less attention is paid to stud- ies and thoughts turn to other special events. Big John greets fans with homecoming victory Homecoming didn't seem like homecoming for awhile. Besides not hav- ing a bonfire, Friday was a scorcher, topped by a rainy parade. But the wind blew the Farmers' way and brought not only cold weather, but a 48-15 victory over Burleson. And Skeeter Proctor didn't seem to mind the chilled September wind as she was crowned 1972- 73 homecoming queen. 7.3.1 mmm Th F I Ffmf S gpclimc. J: 'Uma 5,4945-5 JSQPZJ WWE h nuff . Between a well aimed egg or two, there was time for soeials, par- ties, jack-o-lanterns and black eats. Even the teachers took on new faces as a goblin in spirit eame to town. W - 1 5 V 1 I 1- Decisions, decisions. Elec- tions took on a new mean- ing in 1972 as 18 year-olds could vote for the first time in nationwide, as well as school elections. When the votes were tallied, LHS ended up with Nixon for 4 more and new blood in the student council. All the winners took their own stand, with promises of any- thing from a juke box in the lunchroom to the end- ing of the Vietnam war. How many were and will be kept, only time will tell. X t. Mg gi: t w It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas by the time the' band and choir held their annual holiday assembly the day before old St. Nick banned school for two weeks. Doors had been deco- rated, Santaas appeared, and lights were seen 200 miles to Austin when LHS received an early present that went Hall the way to state. 52 Happy Birthday Jesus Penny-A- Vote Valentine Slaves were sold, cakes were baked and the fresh- men serenaded their way to the crown. The Fighting Farmers who competed on cold December nights had their beginnings under the burning August sun. After giving much sweat and effort the Farmers travelled to Ft. Worth for their first pre-season game and Won. More practice yielded another win, and then another, until people began to take notice of the team that refused to lose. 1, ' Qh- - By mid-season, the Farm- ers were looking up. Lewisville proved this against McKinney with a must', win. Fighting for their lives, the Farmers fell behind in the first half. And it wasn't until the dreams of a year fell into tackle Niles Ladehoff's arms that victory became reality. The offense was given new life when number 74 grabbed a deflected pass and picked up a crucial first down. All was joy in Lewisville town when quarterback Joe Martin slipped into the corner of the end zone, and with no time on the clock, Randy Cade kicked the Farmers to a district title.
