foreword We, the class of 1959, have chosen as our theme Lewiston High School, pathway to the future. It is our belief that a pathway is the best representation of the function that the school has served during our four years as students. To illustrate this theme further, we shall use frequently throughout this edition of the FOLIO the Latin word for path, VIA, which signifies the influence exerted by the past upon our lives. The borders of our way have been set by our superiors in church, in the home, and in sclrool. Thus guided, we have found the path to maturity ISSS difficult to traverse. Providing a sound base for our path to the future are the friendships and companionships we have shared and we have enioyed with classmates. The tiles of this path are symbolic of the knowledge we have gained from the curriculum, while extra-curricular activi- ties have augmented this learning through practical experience. Our life extends before us. The pathway has been prepared, it is for us to follow. If we sincerely strive, the future will be limitless, the world will be ours! 4
