Last year at the New England Band Festival in Am- herst, Massachusetts, the Lewiston High School Band was awarded a trophy for being the outstanding band. Pit the Western Maine Festival here in Lewiston, the band re- ceived A ratings for both playing and marching. Every band member is appreciative of the Band Booster Club, which provides funds to go on such enjoyable trips, and to Sgt. Oscar Hartford, who devotes his valuable time to drill the band. All should also be thankful for the modern band room provided by the Band Booster Club. In the past few years, the Band Booster Club has raised funds for the band by paper drives, by selling calendars, and holding square dances, and the annual Band Booster Ball. This year bean suppers were introduced to raise money. The annual concert, held March 14, was outstanding. The bandsmen are grateful to Director Theodore Armstrong and his assistant, Ioseph Deslauriers, for their capable direction and choice of excellent selections.
