' e iBanc1 THIS WAS ANOTHER very active and successful year for the band. Under Mr. Atm- strongls capable leadership, the band made definite steps toward becoming one of the finest in the state. With the financial support and the enthusiastic backing of the Band Booster Club, many new instruments were bought. During the year the Booster Club sponsored the Band Booster Ball and the Le-Ba-Boc Fair, the proceeds of which helped to pay the expenses of our band. During the fall the band made a colorful spectacle at the football games. Serving our community as well as our school, the band appeared many times in public including: the Halloween Night Parade, the dedication of St. Dom's Arena, the meeting of Maine's Municipal officials, The County Teacher's Association meet- ing, Captain Picard's Testimonial Banquet and the lVlayor's lnauguration. l90lL 4m,g,V wa First rout R. Both concerts were proof of the band's excellent progress. ' , . , . ii Washington XXJITH THE L'siiAL card games and singing, and with Sally Small as the entertainer, approximately one hundred and ten seniors left at six o'clock on the morning of April fourteenth for the trip to Wilsh- ington. That night the travelers arrived in New York and checked in at the Hotel Taft hefore going to a show or walking around in the Big City. Bright and early the next morning it was on to Philadelphia, Baltimore, and into Washingttvii just in time for the evening meal. That night some of the party visited the Congressional Lihrary, others went to see the Vfashington Monument, and still others, including Blynn Cascadden, found a nice little Spot where they could dance and have a good time. On Sunday the Franciscan Monastery, Arlington Cemetery. the Amphitheater, the Tomh of the Unknown Soldier, and Mount Vernon were honored hy visits from the Lewiston group. Monday was spent touring the FBI Building, the Pan-American Building, the Smithsonian Institute, the Botanical Gardens, the Lin- coln Memorial, and the zoo. Some memhers of the party decided that the hirds at the zoo were not worth seeing if it meant that they were late returning to the lwusses and had to receive the silent treatment. .0 MQ, tx 4 in 'Q qt-we ,Mmm iff 5 G .Sm s . 2 5 Q, WI L M' u fwf ?
