Page forty-nine Page fifty Loyalty Squad Sets Fast Pace Purchase of the public ad- dress system was but one of the projects sponsored and completed during the year by the Loyalty Squad. The PA system was used continuous- ly at assemblies and was at times utilized to provide the music for dancing. During the cold weather in January and February the group also organized and backed a plan for noon rec- reation. Old-time dances were interspersed with special move ing picture shows to provide students a warm place to wait for fourth hour classes. The membership of 64 ne- cessitated two pictures by the annual cameraman. Bob Jas- pers served as president of the group, with Rosie Polillo, vice-president, and Elizabeth Scott, secretary. Orvell Shore advised the unit for the sec- ond consecutive year. L-Soles Unit on Job Promoting and creating en- thusiasm tor L. H. Seventeen lettermen will return next year to bolster a probably better-than-average squad. With the appearance ot Old Man Winter. the coecls' sport calendar switched to indoor games such as badminton. volley ball, table tennis and baslcetball. GIRLS' CHORUS-Performing for school assemblies, the Christmas concert, the Rotary Club and spring concert and festival, the Girls' Chorus, under direction of Miss Helen Young, was busy throughout the year. Blanche Pearson was president, MIXED CHORUS-Thirty members of the Mixed Chorus lifted their voices in song at numerous school assemblies throughout the year and the spring festival, Miss Helen Young was director of the group. G. A. A.-These athletic coeds demonstrated their vim and vigor in after-school turnouts two days a week. Mary Sweeney was group president and Mrs. Merl Kytonen, girls' P.E. instructor, was adviser. GIRLS' GLEE-Performances in the Christmas program and spring festival and concert constituted the only public appearances of the Girls' Glee Club, but the club objective to learn to better appreciate music and create an interest in music was fulfilled.
