Through these same doors we must leave as seniors, pre- pared to breast the world. Behind them we leave the tears, the laughter, and the disappointments of six years. That this year may not be lost in the hurried ob- livion which lies ahead, the Oneida here records it in picture and in story. The Dragons opened the season by tying their arch-rival, hIitHinburg. In the sec- ond game hfilton and Lewisburg battled to a scoreless tie. After defeating Blooms- burg by one touchdown and Jersey Shore by two, the Dragons continued their Win- ning streak to overcome the remaining opponents by one-sided scores. Because of inclement weather a number of games were cancelled, and Iiewisburg shared with Lewistown the championship of the Susquehanna League. Several players were chosen for the Susquehanna all-star team, and Ben Zimmerman received honorable mention for the all-state eleven. The squad played spirited, aggressive basketball throughout the season, losing the majority of the games dropped by only a few points. A smashing victory over Mifflinburg recaptured the Brown Jug, lost in the first encounter with our rivals from the neighboring town. Another highlight of the season was the fine shooting performance which sent Bloomsburg to defeat by a close margin. Graham Sho- walter, Bob Kribbs, and Larry Franeovich were the leading scorers. The Junior Varsity showed improvement as the season advanced. Although they were on the losing end much of the time, they did not lose their determination. Lewisburg belonged to the Tri-county Softball League, composed of such traditional opponents as Mifllinburg, Selinsgrove, and Hlontandon. The basketball schedule consisted of ten games with both varsity and junior varsity competition. For the varsity, high scorers were Frances Moyer, Pat Malloy, and Linda Libby. Members of the G.A.L. promote sports for girls. They sponsored a Playday for girls from neighboring schools and encouraged attendance at away games. The League contributed toward the new uniforms for the cheerleaders and fostered participation in the intramural program.
