It was a hard pull at first, but after the difliculties were ironed out, the printer's ink ran smoothly. IE MAS UIE As well as encouraging more high school students to become interested in dramatics, the Masque and its new adviser, Mrs. Erdley, has planned many other programs, such as skits and a one-act play contest. The Masque is also trying to promote a plan whereby each class is responsible for a chapel program on a holiday or similar occasion. 40 CHRISTMAS CCARUL SERVICE O Holy Night sang the boys' and girls' chorus under the direction of Mrs. Stillman. It was the annual Christmas Carol Service presented on December 22. With fine spirit of co-operation and enthusiasm the clubs proved a great success. The following are the clubs: Bowling, Dancing, Horseback Riding, Art, Aviation, Knitting, Handicraft, Typing, Music, Sewing and Childcare, and Dramatic Club. The three major activities during the year were the Father and Daughter Banquet, Mother and Daughter Banquet, and the fair. Although no major duties were added, the council worked enthusiastically to perform the duties vested in it during the first semester. On the basis of its success, the stu- dent council appears to be in L. H. S. to stay. 45 GIRLS' GILIEIE CLUB Under the leadership of Mrs. Donald G. Stillman, the girls' chorus has progressed rapidly. This year freshmen and sopho- mores were also given the opportunity of entering this organiza- tion. The first appearance of the new girls' chorus was a successful program given for the teachers' institute in November. Many other programs were given throughout the year. The Dragons won the first five league games before losing to Selinsgrove by the score of 14 to S. Then bounding back Lewisburg won the next 3 games before losing to Northumberland in one of the best games of the season by the score of 2 to 1. Once again this team was coached by Denver Dyer. Since no neighboring schools had track, Lewisburg had to compete with Williamsport High School. There were two meets. In the first meet Williamsport won by the convincing score of 68 to 39, but as the season progressed Lewisburg improved. In the final meet, Wil- liamsport won by a closer score of 63 1f3 to S1 2f3. Although the team didn't win any meets, they improved as the season ended. Through the line coaching of Denver Dyer and the co-operation of the boys, it was a well trained team. Coaches Joe Diblin and A1 Myers issued the first call for practice around the middle of August. About forty boys answered this call. The Dragons won four games and lost three. Lewisburg lost the first game of the season to Danville 21 to 0, but in the second game the Dragons retained the Brown Jug by defeating Mifllinburg 13 to 0. In the next game the Dragons lost to Northumberland by the convinc- ing score of 30 to 6, but in the following game pounced Montgomery 13 to 6. After losing to Selinsgrove 13 to 0, Lewisburg defeated Carson Long Military Institute 25 to 7, and tramped over Trevorton by the score of 41 to 0. Through lack of experience and height the Dragons were able to win only two games of a twenty-one game schedule. The Dragons lost seven games within four points. Dyer was the high scorer for the season with 131 points. Spangler and Baker were the co-captains for the season. The Jay-Vees had a good season under its new coach, Al Myers. The Baby Dragons ended in fifth place in the league. Crisden and Himmelreich were the high scorers for the Baby Dragons. This year two leagues were formed. League A and League B. League A was composed of six teams. They were as follows: N. Y. U., Penn State, Columbia, Cornell, Temple, and L. I. U. There were about seven players on each team in League A. League B consisted of four teams. They were as follows: Rams, Bears, Lions, and Tigers.
