She has displayed an interest and friendly manner throughout her years at Mills. We wish to recognize her service to the students in her classes and her competent teaching efforts in the social sciences. We also commend her fine work as Junior Class Advisor. We thank you, Mrs. Norton, and sincerely wish you good health and good fortune in the years to come. RECOGNITION A SPECIAL p 1972- 1988 GRADUATION - 1987 1988 is a milestone year not only for the graduating class, but for our Superintendent of Schools as well. On June 30 Gerald Leblanc will retire from Regional School District 10 after sixteen years of service. Under Mr. Leblanc's leadership, the District 10 school system has steadily changed and developed. During his tenure as Superintendent, the regionalization of Harwinton and Bur- lington, grades K through twelve, was smoothly implemented. Two facilities were built, the Har-Bur Middle School and an addition to the Lake Garda Elementary School. In an effort to meet the needs of all its students, Regional District IO assumed a leadership role in its special educational services, and changes in curriculum and the development of new programs took place in all of the district schools. Due in large part to Mr. Leblancls insight and diligence, the District I0 school system has gained a reputation for excellence and progressiveness. We will miss Mr. Leblanc's leadership. But equally we will miss the man. Despite his responsibilities and the time required to fullfill them, Mr. Leblanc has always been available to the people of the district. With grace and humor he has reached out to us all- students, staff, parents, and townspeople alike. He has recognized the need to serve his office capably and efficiently, but he has understood, too, that District 10 is comprised not only of schools and classrooms but, most importantly, of people. Mr. Leblanc, we thank you for your years of dedicated service to District 10, and we wish you and Mrs. Leblanc the very best in your retirement years. BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING MR. GERALD LEBLANC Superintendent of Schools GRANDPA'S PRIDE BEST WISHES TO US BOTH ,f 'Ml 'N ON THE ROAD AGAIN iv IN APPRECIATION DUREEN H. MacNEIL We, the Class of 1988, wish to express our sincere ap- preciation to Mrs. Doreen MacNeil for her patience and dedi- cation to us and to all students who have passed through her classroom door over the years. Her tenure of twenty-four years has been punctuated by kindness, helpfulness, and tol- erance. To say that we are grateful is to say too little. To say that we owe an unpayable debt is not to exaggerate, for who can ever repay the teacher from whom we have leamed? Mrs. MacNeil, we, the Class of 1988, thank you and wish you much happiness in the years to come.
