SC-3 DIVISION, more traditionally known as First Division, Is responsible for the ship ' s deck evolutions and topside equipment. The division Is made up of Boatswain ' s Mates ( M) and norvdeslg- noted seamen. They work with the tradi- tional tools of the maritime profession ■ anchor, ropes, wholeboot, pipe, and also with more recent additions to the trade, such as helicopter flight deck gear. They operate and maintain the teletype and cryptographic gear which brings the ship printed messages from all over the world and allows PULLER to talk to any naval unit, anywhere in the Pacif- ic, at any time.
