She previously taught at Lincoln, La Jolla, Clairemont, and Mission Bay High Schools, and at Gompers Jr. High School. She started teaching in the stu- dent teaching program through United States International University. She graduated from Clairemont University. Mrs. Bodenhamer's pastimes include: her family, her pets, and Perry Mason re-runs which she watches for a sub- stantial amount of time each night. Mrs. Bodenhamer and her -husband, Larry, have traveled virtually around the world a few times. The students at Lewis have profited from her expertise, and wish her well. Q Dr. Romanowski- principal e..r i 'K M4 Mrs. Jamison- vice principal im Mr. Wolf- vice principal if ' Dr. Romanowski has been a principal at Lewis for four years. He previously worked here in 1965 as a vice principal. Then he continued on to Bell J.H., Patrick Henry H.S., and Dana J.H. before returning. Dr. R. attended two colleges receiving a Mas- ters degree and a Phd. He has five children, who are now out in the business world. Our principals favorite activities include fishing, reading, and playing racquetball and handball. When asked what the greatest reward of being principal here are Lewis, he simply replied, the kids . . . I love them. Mrs. Jamison, our newest vice principal, has been at Lewis for two years. She says that helping kids developed a positive attitude towards school is the most rewarding aspect of her job. Reading, traveling, fishing, and sewing are some of her favorite pastimes. In the past, Mrs. Jamison has worked at Gompers, Clairemont, and San Diego High. She was educated at Cal State, University of Denver, and Prairie View in Texas. Mr. Wolf, the one who brings fun assemblies -to our school has been an enthusiastic vice principal as Lewis for more than 12 years. He says that watching his kids here at Lewis grow and succeed is his greatest reward. Mr. Wolf attended college at the University of Michigan and at Columbia University. He re- ceived his degrees in art and school administration. Mr. Wolf has three children, Ellen, Brian, and Adrianne. In his free time he is the traveling kind of guy. Marianne Chrisman and David Paul are the most attractive of them all, It was easy to see that the prettiest eyes belonged to Shannon Miller and Eric Rosenberg. And who could resist Jenny Stern's and Ted Poirier's cute smiles. We couldn,t miss the great curves of Kerri Hoxsey and Harry Reed. Natasha Harding's and Jerry Miyamoto's clothes are full of Esprit. Lewis has so many great personalities, we just couldn't decide, but Kim Shults, Mark Vanderpool, and Eliza- beth King make us full of pride. Ashley Yelvington and Josh Flores always have a pun. Whenever you're with them, youlll have a lot of fun. Luke Lowery and Debi Dyck are the most athletic. When anyone runs next to them, they look really pa- thetic. Everyone has heard all around that Mrs. Bodenhamer and Mr, Hearing are the favorite teachers in town. They've got the brains, they make the grade, and they'll be making extra dollars. That's a C-mark! Ana A little to the right. A sample of the talented and quality teachers at Lewis is displayed on these pages. Mr. Crawford, who teaches a variety of subjects, IS telling one of his students to take a seat. Mr. Hearing, a science teacher at Lewis, is showing his approval of his home town of Brooklyn, New York. One of the many fine math teachers at Lewis is Mr. Neis. In this picture, he is enforcing the strict citizenship rules of his classroom. Mrs. Rasmussen is a new addition to the Lewis teaching staff. Although she has only been at Lewis a short time, she understands that students can get out of hand at times. Mrs. Buechner is an excellent computer and science teacher at our school. In this picture, she is expressing her love for computers. Mrs. LaVaut, a social sciences teacher, is asking for the answer to a difficult question. Another fine math teacher at Lewis is Mr. Griggs. He sometimes has to remind himself that his pupils are doing their best. Mr. Valencia, who teaches Spanish and math, is asking one of his student's opinion of another. Mr. Hill is a great history and social studies teacher. He is famous for his great stories that make his class so interesting. In this picture, he is introducing his students to his favorite chapter. Ms. Allor, a physical education teacher, is trying to get real work out of her students. Mr. Starkey, an English and wood shop teacher at Lewis, is telling one of his students that he has received a citizenship mark for unsatisfactory behavior in his classroom. The counselors at Lewis help the students a great deal. Not only do they help with academic problems, but with personal problems as well. They help schedule classes and make it as convenient as possible for the students. They always offer their assistance to all. Mr. Belcher has been at Lewis since 1972. Be- fore that, he was a counselor at Gompers Secon- dary School and he taught classes at other schools as well. He is the counselor for the eighth and ninth graders. Mrs. Holmes has been at Lewis for 9 years. She is the counselor for all of the seventh graders and the cluster and seminar eighth and ninth graders. Pale moonbeams cast haunting shadows on glowing piles of freshly fallen snow. The melancholy rustle of whispering pines welcomed us to their enchanted world of white. The next morning dawned clear and bright as we were offered our first view of the frozen realm. Sunbeams poured from the horizon, sending the mountain into a wild glitter of dancing white and twinkling light. Majestic mountains, deep blue skies, and a blanket of shimmering snow joined together to proclaim its brillance in a welcoming harmony. The slopes challenged anyone to dare attempt to conquer their regal perfection. We were all up to the test. Whether soaring down black diamonds with the grace and ease of an eagle in flight, or snowplowing the flashing runs and death-defying heights of the bunnyslopes- Brianhead, Utah, was a snowbunny's dream come true. One day faded into the next, and clouds drifted in to enshroud the sun's life-giving warmth. The bitter wind possessed the tiny, gentle snowflakes, whipping fingers of cold clutched at our bundled forms, but still we followed the mountain, farther and higher, in search of the ultimate skiing experience. Clouds descended to mingle with flakes of snow as it enveloped the mountain in a freezing blanket of ice, and still the powder piled higher and deeper. Experts lost their skis, and beginners lost their feet in the sinking mounds of white. And all the while frosty winds seemed to slice through to the very core of our beings in a vicious attempt to steal every breath of warm air. But we would not be beaten. Our. spirits soared higher than the angry winds, and the slopes were ours. Exhilaration surged through our veins, warming our hearts, feeding our souls.
