THE BAND Director- Mr. Panzenbeck The band has been very active this year. The crowds at the home football games had the pleasure of hearing the Lewes Band perform. The band did the Congo very nicely at the Thanksgiving Day Football game which was enjoyed by all. They have participated at all pep rallies held before each game. We had a very impressive pep rally held on the Wednesday night before the Thanksgiving game. We paraded uptown and then came back to the school to burn the large dummy with the inscription Rehoboth written on it. On Halloween night the band participated in the annual Halloween parade. Both the band and majorettes won first prize at Rehoboth Beach. The first Saturday in December, Santa had the pleasure of being escorted into town by the music of the Lewes Band. The attendants at the regular P. T. A. meetings were entertained also by concerts which the band presented. The band also performed in the customary Memorial Day parade. The following five members of the band won seats in the Sussex County Band: Bill Mincy, Bill Joseph, Rosalie Porter, Donna Fitch, and Shirley Prettyman. The band represented the school at the State Band Festival held in Dover during May. We also played at Graduation in June. The band has participated in the home basketball games held in the school gym- nasium. Mr. Panzenbeck has done a lot of hard work to make the band what it is and in years to come expects to make the Band of Lewes High ever greater. The band members and their instruments are listed below: Trumpets Clarinels Percussion Trombones, Oboe Bill Mincy Karen Cole Hershell Porter Fred Chappel Conrad Abell Carole Hill Harry Shores Marvin Mitchell Billy Brittingham Rosalie Porter Jim Kuneman Loyd Mincy Tom Carpenter Janet Ranker Peggy Matthews Ed Buck Carl Davidson Joyce Ritter Horns Carol Palmer John Mincy Frank Poch Jerry Wagaman Billy Aikens Fred Evans Ronald Howard Lenna Macintire Bailey Maull Ray Moore Jimmy Carter Elma Orton Larry Rockwell Donna Fitch Judy Ash Katherine Hall Janet Jackson Shirley Prettyman Olivia Hickman Jack Gibson Tubas Ray Gibson Bobby Bryan Bells, Baritone Betty Gillis Betty Truitt Patsy Howard Saxes Bill Joseph Donald Webb Janice Lowe Shirley Watkins Joanne Prettyman 24 Dean Fitch Dick Frazer Majorelles Patsy Rice Yvonne Bryan Daryl Bender Bonnie Smith Mary Davidson Mary Ann Culver Sharen Howarth Norma Burton
