THE CHORUS Advisor, Mr. Maret Panzenbeck The Chorus, under the direction of Mr. Maret Panzenbeck, has been very active this year. A day before the Christmas vacation, carols were sung in the school corridors by the Chorus. They also livened many assemblies by singing appropriate songs. A con- cert for the P. T. A. was held in May in which the Chorus took part. One third of the members of the Chorus represented our school in the Sussex County Chorus. They were Bill Crisp, Bob Short, Janey Ingram, Faye Steele, Mary Frances Omwake, Jay Rowland, ,Iarmon Ingram, Sara Dorman, Alice Hess, ,Ioan Tharp, Douglas Roberts, Carl Walls, and Nancy Ward. From these people, Alice Hess, Sara Dorman, and Douglas Roberts were chosen for State Chorus. This has been the best representation from Lewes High for many years. .arg-13, LQ X ' A ' 53,142 - 'iii 1, f3lQivA 7 Mfg? STUDENT COUNCIL Presidenl ....... .... B ob Short Secrelary .,... .... D orothy Brugge Vice-Presidenl.. . . ..... Bill Burton Treasurer.. . . ..... jackie Souder Advisor, Mr. Arnold The Student Council has undertaken many projects this year. The first of these was the selling of General Association Tickets. Since a number of dances were included with these tickets, they were the sponsors of many successful dances. For more school spirit, the Student Council sponsored a pep rally and parade in honor of the football team. The seating arrangement for elementary and high school was again made for the use of assem- blies in the auditorium. For the students' benefit, the Student Council had a movie on the National Student Council and a debate as assemblies. As an entirely new project, a Student Government Day was organized in which the Senior Class took charge of the school for a day. Their fourth annual presidential election was held in May with its usual rivalry. The Student Council enjoyed the monthly meetings with the Sussex County Student Council since the president of this organization was its own president, Bob Short, of whom they are very proud.
