back seat of my convertrble I waved good bye to dear old Lewes and drove on I drdn t really drrve far when I ran out of gas rn front of a new fully equrpped servrce statron whose owner was a former classmate Lours Nobles I had no need to stop agarn untrl I reached Phrladelphra where I went to Dorrs Short s Beauty Salon Srnce my corffure was done rn trme we went to hear Phyllrs ohnson grve a speech on her extensrve travels I had to leave rmmedrately because I had accepted a cordral rnvrta tron to spend the nrght at the home of Mr and Mrs Brll Metcalfe Beatrrce Thomas Gorng out of my way I stopped to see Professor Dorothy E Hadder who rs the head of the Natronal Scrence Development Department Srnce I made good trme I was able to catch the last performance of Mr Robert Short the famed concert pranrst Many curtarn calls later h told me hrs success was largely due to hrs manager Patrrcra Lawton Durrng the mornrng of the day of the lrners sarlrng I phoned Powers Model Agency to speak enormous port of Marserlles to talk to Admrral Bob Hall Accrdentally armon Ingrams path crossed mrne rn Spam where she had a lecture tour on archeology Wantrng a thrrllrng huntrng expe drtron I accepted Tom Marshall s the multr mrllron arre tycoon offer to jorn hrs party Besrdes the huntrng I enjoyed talkrng to hrs secretary Helen Rrtter who explarned how she managed hrs many busrnesses I Iran I decrded to spend a portron of my trme dorng nothrng rn Duval Evans spacrous hotel Hearrng about the burldrng of another branch office of the lnternatronal Electrrc Company rn Delhr Indra I boarded a plane rn order to renew old acquarntances wrth the owners Holmes Russell and Donald Mitchell Upon enterrng the office I realrzed the efhcrency needed by therr secretary oan Tharp ln Chrna I made an apporntment to talk to Ambassador Roland Paynter Warrrngton who has brought about under standrng for Unrted States rn many natrons Havrng to leave I boarded the boat wrth a former school chum Drrector of Nurses who showed me to a patrent s room I wasn t surprrsed to see I-Irlda Hawks sufferrng from a relapse trymg to please everybody The following week all cars were headed to the Indranapolrs Speedway The World Champronshrp of Hot Rod Racers was bemg run be tween Al Donahue and Gus Marshall Therr cars were furnrshed by the Hudson Hornet dealers Larry Knapp and Raymond Hall of Loursvrlle Ken tucky I flew back by way of Washrngton D C where I was rn trme to catch the afternoon game of Washrngton Senators managed by one of my old classmates Wrllard Ellrngsworth When I reached Delaware I stopped by to see Mary Wrlley who lrves on a modern farm Reachrng the outskrrts of Lewes I knew that rt rs the best town rn the natron JINGLES Albert Ash Albert has a mechanrcal mrnd A
