4 pirit Week ' 87 was a lot better than in ' 86, said sophomore LaChandra sophomore LaChandra Robinson. At least we dressed- up, decorated the halls, and had a parade. The big, bad seniors, whose theme was “The Seniors Big Adven¬ ture, had dressed-up like Pee Wee Herman ' s and even managed to win the Spirit Stick. Senior Gerry Gray said, It ' s About Time the seniors stood up and took the throne. The juniors weren ' t as lucky though: they had their Bum Day nixed by Asst. Principal William Reese and wore red t-shirts and jeans instead. Some of the sophomores man¬ aged to dress in Mix and Match, and freshman were suppose to look like straight out of the 50 ' s. Walking down the halls and seeing all the decorations makes me proud to be a Hornet, said fresh¬ man Tia Nance. “I really like the posters in the sophomore hall, said LaSonia Levy, sophomore. And, evidently, the judges did too which was why they won first place. Anyway, the upside of Spirit Week ' 87 was that it was a sight better than the bare bone halls of ' 86 . written by Mia DeLoach AMONG BLACK AND gold streamers, seniors Harold Jones, Terry Gearld, and Patrla Reid decorate the senior hall. PEE WEE HERMAN copycats, seniors Darrell Williams, Kenneth Smith, and Michael Zanders dress alike on Nerd Day. AT A SPIRIT Week sock hop, Corne¬ lius Joseph, senior, gyrates to the D.J. ' s mix. The Horace Mann Horseman had stunned the unbeaten Hornets, 14-12, and the Bees blew away their chances of becoming Northwest Conference Champs. One Hornet was happy though.
