Best news, best players, best dressed, best haircut, best car — best of ' 87! Worst in 1987? Closed campus, unemployment, nerds, closed campus. Best News for Lazy Kids? In a study of 16,636 kids. Dr. William Dietz linked TV and obesity. Dietz found that 13 year olds burned more calories lying down doing nothing, than in watching TV. Best Varsity Player? Super-dunk hero Jerome Harmon, senior, (r.) made Parade ' s All- American, All-State. All-Confer¬ ence, PT ' s Player of the Week, MVP. Shall we go on? Best Dressed at El Dubb? Best dressed students were those motf n the know, and those who had the most dough. They came to school in just about everything from Coca-Cola to Banana Republic. High status carried big price tags too. Below, Junior Mia DeLoach models her Guess. Best Teen Haircut? For the girls, it was the bob cut. For the young men, the ’ ' fade was popular. Biggest Nerd in ' 87? Pee Wee Herman was the most fa mous. Best Car on the Road? The Nissan Maxima, we thoughI was s-n-a-z-Z-y! Worst Happening Here? Students complained loudly abou the administration dosing th( school doors and locking them up They compared the surge on lunci hour to a can of sardines in Roten burg — too many bodies packer in too little space. Worst Local News? For the majority of Gary teens with¬ out jobs, unemployment was a bac scene. 16- BEST AND WORST OF EVERYTHING

11 VIKING FOR A DAY. Dana Carter, se¬ nior, awaits entrance to the castle. Seniors play-act Mdknl Christmas tudying Shake- speare didn ' t have to be all grind and groan. Playing parts of favorite characters was a gas and resurrected Old Willi again. Seniors in Janet Sefton ' s En¬ glish IV classes thought they ' d en¬ joy a Medieval Christmas so they tied their study of Macbeth to that of the holiday and came up with Christmas at the Castle. Everyone in Sefton ' s English classes received an invite. Mac¬ beth and Lady Macbeth were to be the host and hostess. King Duncan, his sons Malcolm and Do- naldbain, Banquo and Macduff were all invited. Senior Sean Johnson who had come as a monk even stitched his own cos¬ tume. Some uninvited guests who had sneaked past the palace guards into the Mead Hall had come, also — the likes of three witches, Hecate, and an execu- laying parts of favorite characters was a gas and resurrected ’Old Willie’ again.” tioner.
