As We Are A boy and girl, hands clasped and barefoot, walking down a lonely sandy shore Together, wrapped up in their first feelings of young love They are wise . . . and happy . . . and utterly—completely foolish. There is laughter and warmth and a sense of belonging — With misty eyes—the memories we treasure The parties, jokes, the seasons that have ripened our friend¬ ships And yet—these are but half — There are tears and fights and the sadness that come in our struggle toward maturity. We are an inseparable link in our circle of friends, those who understand our problems, our insecurities . . . In the distance, there is a lonely whistle of a train, the rush of wind on the river Alone now, l am indefinite, poised between paths. School is so much of my life, the near center of my somewhat sheltered world And yet, in my solitude, I realize that these years are only the preparation for the world that awaits me, the history I will write. of time seems to stand still — waiting—as I am. by Jan Felton

26 O efl O. O 8 J a. Jan Homecoming ’63 - ' 64 The night was warm; the sky was clear with a bright full September moon casting its light down upon the field. As the “Star-Spangled Banner was played and the flag was hoisted, tears filled the eyes of many senior girls. From the stands, dotted with yellow mums, screams of excitement flowed. Sweat dripped from the foreheads of the players; tension was building. The game progressed; the queen was crowned; spirits were high. Soon it was over and victory was ours.
