It calls for more thinking, more help, and more sacrifices than at any time in history. The amount of success that you will attain depends upon how well you have trained yourself to prepare for it. The staff at Levittown Memorial have provided you with enough experiences — academic, social, and non- academic and athletic — to prepare you for the world outside. Only you know how much you have given to help make yourself a success. The period of our life which you are completing can never be relived. Hopefully, you have used it to its fullest. With his help we were able to sell tootsie rolls and of course, Candy Canes, a traditional fund raiser in Memorial. In November, we attempted a task not done in Memorial for many years. With the aid of the S.O., Jr. Class and Cheerleaders, we were able to get a Homecom- ing Dance off the ground. This proved to be a huge success and many more are planned. There are many activities in mind to make this year an extra special one. Our biggest activity and most thrilling one will take place on May 12, 1983. The Senior Prom will be held at the Crest Hollow Country Club, which will be the climax of our high school years at Levittown Memorial and the last Senior Prom to come out of Levittown Memorial as a High School. Home and away, they enthusiastically cheered the football and basketball teams to victory. In addition to their cheering they decorated the field and gym for many games, served a breakfast for the football team, gave a dinner to the basketball team, helped with the homecoming dance and supported every school activity. All turned out well, as the budget was passed, but uncertainty remained as to the degree of success the Panthers would reach. The Panthers played some very skillful teams that they could not overcome, as they ended their season with a 3-10 record. There were six girls on the team with no previous soccer experience before and each improved a great deal. Lisa Dwyer, Colleen Limerick, and Michele Robert- son strengthened the defense while Terry DeSantis and Jenny Sholl were the nucleus of the offense. Carol Czachor and Mary Ann Rogers were voted to the All-Division team by the National League Conference IIR coaches. Mary Ann, a senior, had a great year and led the team in both goals and assists. These dedicated and spirited girls spent many hours and afternoons decorating for such ac- tivities as the Pep Rally, Homecoming Game, Homecoming Dance and home basketball games. Their record was good enough to qualify them for the Nassau County Playoffs. This was the first time in the history of Levittown Memorial that a Girls Varsity Basketball team has made the playoffs. This year's team was led by co-captains Lisa Dwyer and Sharon O’Gallagher. Lisa scored 252 points in 14 games for an average of 18 points per game. She also averaged 10 rebounds and five steals per game. Sharon O’Gallagher led the team in assists averaging nine. Sharon’s ac- complishments were no small feat, considering she dislocated her shoulder during the season. Colleen and Dawn Limerick added strength and height to the team while Maureen Phillips made the Panther fast break move. Mary Ann Rogers, Carol Czachor, Michele Robertson, and Donna Pilch added desire and dedication that helped the team develop a winning spirit. I’ll remember Ray Nardo slugging away each day having a rough time yet never complaining. I’ll remember the humor of Harry Charalambus and Wayne Zambito. I'll remember the intensity of Randy Stolzberg and Scott Malings in their quest to be number 1. Brase, had it's best year ever. During the 1982-83 school year. Besides doing an outstan- ding job at all of our Home footgames, the panther mar- ching band made a farewell appearance at the Hofstra Marching Band Festival. While attending this festival, the band (made up of musicians, kickline, flag corps and banner carriers) led by drum majorette picked up a trophy for the outstanding job they did. Another highlight from this school year was the highly acclaimed winter concert which took place during the month of December. As the year Progressed, the band also participated in the Honor Society ceremony, a Fabulous trip to Boston, the spring concert and graduation. Last of all, the band was quite proud of two other ac- complishments that took place. The first was having two of its members, James Murray (Tuba) and Beth Pritchard (Clarinet) selected for All-County band, with the second being, Memorial’s Participation with the band at this year’s New York State school music association (N.Y.S.S.M.S) competition. All in all, this was Memorial’s finest band in 30 years. But for the second year, one of the bands stood out as a favorite, The Panther Marching Band. This band, directed and coordinated by Robert Brase, put on a show entitled “Panther’s 82;’’ highlights included a Kickline under the direction of Mrs. Laura Pombonyo, a flag corps, coached by Mr. Brase and led by drum major Terri Mehlich. In their appearance at the festival, Memorials music ranged from classical to pop. All in all — the band's big sound, the kickline routines and flag manipulations — the success of the performance let everyone know that Memorial was leaving this festival with style. 134 135 ANYTHING GOES, our 1983 musical production — Memorial's last, and best!
