“
A sea of familiar faces. We can identify with those we know. As individuals, we combine into one being. Communicating with an effort to understand those around us. There have been no strangers here; Only friends we haven't met Touching and caring for those we love Spending hours on the phone with nothing to say Friendships that we have had since the good ol days- and hope to Keep when we go our own ways Hanging out with friends has always been fun. At Saturday's games the crowd was there. If we lost, the pain was shared When winning, there was plenty of victory for everyone Spirit in playing never faded away. Living through an evolution Molding a school we can be proud of Creating a world we have lived in half our lives. Not being able to decide if we truly Dislike it, as much as we know we love love it. ECHOES of Levittown Memorial Senior High School Levittown, New York 4 5 6 Hanging out with friends has always been fun. At Saturday's games the crowd was there. If we lost, the pain was shared When winning, there was plenty of victory for everyone 10 12 13 • «Mr - Administration F a c u I t Superintendent of Schools It is my pleasure to offer my congratulations to the gradu- ates of the Class of 1980 and to their families. We all look for- ward to the '80's with renewed vigor and anticipation of an improved life for each. You will play an important role in this venture not only for your- selves but for your community and country. Dr. James S. Carnrite 20 Mr. Norman A. Murray President Mr. Daniel Corritore Mr. James Ward Vice President Mrs. Eve Classer Mrs. Lenore London Secretary Mr. Robert Koprowski Board of Education 21 Mr. Thomas Kuhn As you complete your years of formal educa- tion in the Levittown Public Schools, you are indeed in a challenging and enviable position. You are standing on the threshold of a new stage of your development; and co-in- cidentally, this is the beginning of a new dec- ade, the next to the last of the 20th century. Having spent two years with you, I know very well the kinds of challenges with which you have had to deal at the conclusion of this past decade. I am also confident of your ca- pabilities to deal with the new challenges of a new decade. While none of us ever knows just what the future may bring, everyone of us can be confident and eager to confront them be- cause of the knowledge we have of past achievement. When I look back on the 1979-1980 school year I know in my heart of hearts that this indeed was a very special year because of the very special people who are the Class of 1980. At no time was I ever doubtful or even a little skeptical of your ability to soar to the heights of achievement despite seemingly insur- mountable obstacles. The record shows very clearly just what you are capable of. If I were to stand in your shoes, I would welcome the challenges of tomorrow and feel capable of succeeding. And those are my feelings about you and for you. May Cod love you and keep you! Francis X. Trezza Mr. Francis X. Trezza Principal 22 23 Mr. Robert J. Enderle Assistant Principal Clarence B. Darrow once wrote; No man can exercise vigorous leadership who lacks the gift of transmitting thought. It is my hope that your years at Levittown Me- morial High School have prepared you for the vigorous leadership that will be required of you in the future. Best wishes for success in all that you undertake in the challenging world before you. Robert). Enderle 24 lames V. Garvey Principal Jr. High Administration Your graduation from Levittown Memorial has a very special significance for me. In 1977 when I arrived at LM|HS, your class represented our ninth grade. And it was your class which became our first graduating group from junior high. There were many highlights that I remember well. The football team and cheerleaders had a great season, the G.O. got off the ground, and of course the spring musical Oklahoma which we all enjoyed. I'm sure you will agree that so much has happened so fast........where did the years go? But life can be best expressed as 25% look back, 25% looking ahead, and 50% living today. So accept my best wishes and congratulations as you make your way into the world. Try to re- member to give each day your best shot . .. Be 1 in everything you do . Best of luck, lames V. Its orientation at my new school L.M.H.S. I'm scared stiff. The school is tremendous — I'll probably get lost. Look at all these people, I feel so out of place, They are all older than me. What if I do something wrong. It's not fair, I was one of the oldest in my school just a few months ago. Now I am starting over again from the bottom up. My teachers give too much homework. We have things called Laps. What a pain in the neck they are - They are about as thick as phone books. But I do them because I want to do well in school. I do all of my homework — just about every night. But as time moves on — the school becomes smaller. Everyone knows every else. I'm getting older — The homework becomes less less. The days go by faster faster, But the parties get better better. I think most of the seniors become closer and closer to one another. After this everyone is going to go their own way, do their own thing. I really hope everyone accomplishes everything that they have ever dreamed of doing. And I wish the Class of '80 the Best of Luck because when they leave L.M.H.S. It's BOTTOM UP!!! Cheri Nierenberg 94 The friendly little jokes we share; the crazy things we do. Our talks in quiet moments, the fun I have with you. These little things give all my days, a warm and happy touch. Cause your friendship is a pleasure, that I treasure ... very much!!! Diane Czachor Children together Lost in a wood. Afraid of a footstep From where we stood. Afraid to go forward Afraid to go back Afraid of the strength Our friendship might lack. Children together All cling for fear The seasons were changing Which brought parting near The summer winds cutting We scattered like leaves And broken were friendships That time often weaves. Children together Have each other to blame For laughter and teardrops In the growing up game. Lori Smith 95 We've been friends throughout the years. We've shared our thoughts, our dreams our tears. Eventually we will look back on tomorrow. The times of laughter, the times of sorrow. We will all soon go our separate ways. But have the memories of yesterdays. Jackie Nelson My first two friends in life Have stuck with me through thick and thin They made my problems their problems When I failed They were there to reassure me When I succeeded They (as well as myself) were proud My first two friends Have given me more love than one could ask for Never holding back, always willing to give They have taught me so much about life Yet never forced their opinions upon me My first two friends Have shared so much with me. They remembered my first tooth, my first bicycle ride, and my first day of school They have built up my courage and confidence Preparing me for life in the future My first two friends Mom and Dad I Love You Amy-)o Erb % Seniors As seniors now we pass our days Avoiding teacher's homework craze. When graduation fever's rise Amongst the seniors anxious eyes. The yearbook frenzy starts right in With Mr. Zacker's fiery grin Cameras snapping candid shots And editor's ulcer's turning knots. Upon a page of scattered names. Their wishes for your future fame A picture that relates a view. Of special moments just for you Faces of those you seem to know Whose cheery smile made you glow A buddy, pal or truthful friend The kind you'll have until the end. An empty beer can lies among The weekend bleachers, honest fun. When seniors ruled the freshman class Waiting just for June to pass When once the Panthers won at all Football, Soccer, Basketball. Our stars who made the side lines cheer The teams who played not knowing fear. Now thoughts of college fill our minds The SAT's and working finds A job or schooling, which is best? A salary or a mid-term test? Decisions come up faster now Demanding from us a certain vow To leave our past and carry on Reflecting memories never gone But once a senior at our school Will be enough for us to rule For learning helped us reach success At our school L.M.H.S. When we began the responsibility, hard work, and long hours were mind boggling. As time passed and these thoughts became realities our staff decreased, but the few whose dedication never failed strived to achieve the desired goal. It is impossible to explain our experience but we hope the student body finds our efforts as satifactory as our endeavors. We would like to thank Mr. Zacker whose humor and sincerity helped us overcome the problems and obstacles that we confronted. I would also like to thank Chris Herson who was always there, doing everything possible to help meet the deadlines. Athletics can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Although times change, the characteristics of a successful athlete remain constant; desire, dedication and total self commitment. We at Levittown Memorial have found students not only willing to participate but also students who have total self commitment to their sport. Memorial's athletes are known as competitive, and extremely aggressive. Our championship football team typifies this analysis. No sport can succeed without depth in personnel and school spirit. We have been fortunate to have both at Memorial. Levittown Memorial can be proud of our female athletes as well as our male athletes. Girl's volleyball and softball could become an athletic powerhouse for Memorial High School. Our spring season is most exciting with a much improved Lacrosse team and a nationally ranked baseball team. I would like to wish the class of 1980 all the success and happiness life has to offer. 148 149 Varsity Football Standing-Coach Mortillaro, Coach Tierney, Coach Balitsos, Jim Bachety, Ed Purcell, Bryan Matthews, George Banos, Mike Tonn, Mike Gilmartin, Tom Zappalla, Mike Martin, Tom Epple, Mitch Mobilio, Ron Paone.
