And dream of never, never, never leaving, harmony — Elton John 2 3 When I’ve got something to say Well, don’t I always let you know So that you and I can go my way together. — James Taylor 5 6 7 Thank You . . .for Touching Our Lives When we think hack on our high sehool years, you will play an important part in our memories. Throughout our years at Levittown Memorial, we have all grown to love you and that love will always be in our hearts. You are a great teacher and in every way a great person. You don’t treat us as a group, to you we are all individuals. During this past year you have touched each and every one of our lives. You are more that a teacher to us, you are a friend. For these reasons and others we love you. We, the class of ’75 art? proud to be able to dedicate this yearbook to you Mr. H. DiSuillo 9 10 11 w Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall All you gotta do is call. And I'll be there Ain't it good to know you gotta friend. — Carole King 15 ar« the same bi tuje arc cMtcfertt Sh'll toe be. or $ T 0 6 E T life H goei orv r cMsodouie - t|r e ujori i tyMKO 1 It's all around us It surrounds us Harmony is in the air — Poco HARMONY — What better theme could be selected by our Echoes staff ami the Class of 1975? None that I know of. For harmony is the agreement between the parts of a design which give unity — and the Class of 1975 demonstrates its harmony by its unity. In a larger and more personal sense, this is what life is all about — one’s ability to maintain an optimal balance within life's opportunities to experience joy and responsibility. It is my sincere hope that each member of the Class of 1975 make the decisions that permit his life to always be in Harmony. 22 Joesph E. McDonald Harmony suggests blending of many voices in song. The melody is something quite different from that of the soloist, for each of the sing- ers does his part in concert” with the others. The record of the Class of ’75 has already been written in the class- rooms and laboratories and on the playing fields of Levittown Memo- rial. It clearly shows that the talents of many people have been blended to produce an enviable history of achievement that goes far beyond the attainments of individuals. I think it significant that you have chosen the theme of Harmony for your yearbook. It suggests warm and positive attitudes towards your experiences. Congratulations! 24 Harmony is expressed throughout the school year through students as they try to work and succeed together to reach their goals. I think this year’s yearbook theme sums up your efforts to succeed and prove yourselves. Good Luck in the future. Balas 42 Dr. Robert Neidi« h Superintendent of Schools To the Class of 1975: Over the course of your high school years, harmony may have seemed to be an elusive condition. While you were busy growing up, you saw our government undergo difficult changes w ith attendant dis- cord. and you became aware of the controversies surrounding the challenge of our nation’s energy needs and those of a world food crisis. Yet in these stressful times you were able to develop warm friendships with your classmates and teachers, and to make lasting contributions to your school organizations. Now that you are entering the adidt world to share the responsibility of your community, your coun- try, and the rest of the world, perhaps your greatest challenge will be to involve yourself in developing a measure of harmony in your life and in the lives of those around you. Your class has worked this year in school to bring to Memorial the kind of harmony that evolves from academic accomplishment and social purpose. You have worked as individuals and as a class to sustain harmonious relationships with students in grades below yours and with students in other district high schools. I am confident that each of you will be earnest in your search within yourselves for the totality of effort that brings harmony to the individual and promotes an enduring harmony in your community. You leave Leviltown Memorial with my respect for your success in school this year, my hope that your efforts in tin succeeding years w ill be as rewarding to you, and with my wishes for harmony in your personal and professional lives. 43 Dr. Robert Neidich 44 45 Ray Chopay Elaine Russo K. Patty Hellment, Ray Chopay, Ray Achalz. Jim Dura. In a spot usually set aside for the plans of the particular class to he told, it is time to reflect on what we have done in our years at L.M.H.S. The class of 75 has been noted by the faculty as one of the most prosperous and unified classes to pass through this school. Despite a poor start as freshmen, the class did exceptionally well as sophomores, using our first carnival as our first major activity. The Junior year followed much the same as the sopho- more year. What made the fund raising easier to undertake was the fun which went along with the activities, again this being due to the students themselves. During our junior year our class held the largest junior prom in the history of the school, with over 300 people attending. What lies ahead for the people of this class no one knows, but w ith the ingenuity and dedica- tion displayed by tin individuals who comprise the Class of 75 the future is definitely promis- ing. 52 1. Never do you see the fun, the war, or the work that is put into it. You see the pictures placed two picas apart, cropped and fit nicely on the page. We have the fun — our prize Italian par- ties (of which the guest of honor is absent). The war which consisted of many battles. The Battle of the photographers vs. the staff, and the Battle of who reads what Ded- ication, are just an example. These ended with the Treaty of Room 318. The terms of this treaty were harsher than those of the Treaty of Versailles in 1918. The worst clause was that of the royal we.” No longer did anyone have an identity, but everyone was a we.” We” need 40 pages, We” need a spotlight picture, we” have to go to the bathroom. All in all the we” that did the work was in reality only three individuals. These girls ground out the book in conditions similar to those in the Black Hole of Calcutta, while the rest of us at our leisure typed away on the school’s electric ty pewriters. We owe special thanks to Barbara, Bette Anne and Mary. But their work could not have been possible if not for our roving photographers, Jeff. Jimmy, and Mark. We'd also like to thank Mr. Zucker. He guided us through the rough times by ‘ applying pressure when needed and prais- ing when it was due. We enjoyed doing this yearbook and hope it will sene as a lasting remembrance of your high school years. It will serve as one for ours. 144 Co-Art Editors — Man Whelan Barbara Dillmann Photography Editor — Jim Wallace W4 Student Organization Boh Inbornom ami Don Vogt Hank DisCuillo — Advisor We’ve come a long way together and in this time we have learned to love, understand, and cooperate with each other. The newspaper made six appearances during the school year, with each issue better than the last. Spotlight attracted many students as was seen by the various reports and articles that were sub- mitted. as well as the large sale of newspapers. In the beginning, the staff did have a hard time getting out their first issue, but they put out their best thanks to Steve Cocheo aided by the other editors and the advisors. Led by Captain Mike Hannan, and senior grappiers Scott Bonessi, Chris Creamer, Ray Chopay, and Fat Birdman Anderson, the wrestling team did well. The team skinned New Hyde Park in the season’s thrilling opener.. I he Panthers then continued on to endure in their quest to win and cat. Jim Nussey. The 1975 season was a tough one for the Panthers. It was a season where every game was a struggle, with no easy games dur- ing the entire season. Competing against the likes of Southside, Hempstead, Long Beach, and Carey would make any season a tough battle. The Panthers did not produce a winning season (missing the play-offs by one game) but some major achievements did take place. The first was that Coach Larry Desimone and the Panthers won their 200th game. This is quite an accomplishment for both Mr. D.” and the school, not many can make claim to this record. The second accomplishment was Bob Manaskie’s scoring of his 1000 career point. Bob's 4 year total came to 114 4, and now joins Joe Yevoli as the only two 1000 pointers in Lev it town history. If points were given for hustle, then this years Panthers would have won every game. Senior players like Eric Gabriel, Ray Achatz, Will Cannon, Doe Allen, and Boh Manaskic always had floor burns to display after each game. Jim Vella and Ken McBride never needed encouragement to dive for loose balls when they were called on. There may be Panther teams in the future that will be remem- bered for w inning more games, hut no team w ill ever he remem- bered as muc h as the '75 Panthers for their never ending hustle. 180 This was a team that never gave up till the final horn blew.
