It is the nature of man to anticipate. Often, anticipation is pleasant. One can dream of a future joy and imagine how wonderful that' joy will be when realized. Sometimes an- ticipation can be unpleasant. The expectation of an un- pleasant event is generally regarded as worrying. It can be said then, that anticipation can merely be either day- dreaming or fretting, but that would only be true if antic- ipation remained simply passive. In the healthy person an- ticipation is really a beginning. It is the beginning of action. To anticipate must mean to each of you to prepare. As you face each day you must to a large extent anticipate at least this: Life is unpredictable so be prepared for sur- prises. How do I prepare for this? you may well ask. The answer is found within yourself. Prepare yourself to accept your responsibility, to change what must be changed and endure the balance with courage.
