LEVITTOWN MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL CHARLES JACOBS Principal JUNE 1966 As seniors you have at least the next fifty years of what is usually thought of as the preparation and production years of life. Each day you must plan, hope and strive for the best possible results. What do you seek? Most people are inclined to strive for personal security and even wealth. These things are good and to a certain extent very necessary. However, the time will come, and for many of you it is here, when you will realize that your life can bring no satisfaction unless you include in your thinking a deep concern for your fellow man. How do you achieve the best? Too many people rely on external discipline. The only ones who reach the top are those who are controlled by internal discipline. Your own aspiration and determination are the forces that will enable you to go beyond the call of duty. Be your own severest critic. Prepare yourself for tomorrow by doing your very best today. Keep these guides in mind and your fondest hopes for the future will ma- terialize.

It is the nature of man to anticipate. Often, anticipation is pleasant. One can dream of a future joy and imagine how wonderful that' joy will be when realized. Sometimes an- ticipation can be unpleasant. The expectation of an un- pleasant event is generally regarded as worrying. It can be said then, that anticipation can merely be either day- dreaming or fretting, but that would only be true if antic- ipation remained simply passive. In the healthy person an- ticipation is really a beginning. It is the beginning of action. To anticipate must mean to each of you to prepare. As you face each day you must to a large extent anticipate at least this: Life is unpredictable so be prepared for sur- prises. How do I prepare for this? you may well ask. The answer is found within yourself. Prepare yourself to accept your responsibility, to change what must be changed and endure the balance with courage. Mr. Donald Mills You have successfully completed four years of high school endeavor, congratulations and best wishes for your future success and happiness. Your years at Levittown Memorial High School have opened to you wide vistas of learning, not only through the subject areas, but through the social, extracurricula, and complete athletic programs offered. I sincerely hope that your successes here in school are indicative of a lifetime filled with the satisfaction that comes from a job well done. Always remember that a firm sense of responsibility is the underlying force that leads to satisfaction and happiness on all the roads of a successful life.
