Living, as we do, in era of extremely rapid achievement as exemplified by man’s advancement in the control of space, in general scientific progress, and by a newly awakened critical appreciation for learning; it is indeed wise for us to pause occasionally in this rapid spiral of progress to take account of our own responsibilities as they pertain to this rapidly expanding universe. These responsibilities fall into three major categories: responsibilities to oneself, one’s family, one’s school and community. We must take cognizance of the fact that students in attend- ance at our elementary schools, high schools, colleges and universities today will become the leaders of tomorrow’s world. Therefore, prepare seriously for the burdens of leadership which are soon to be placed upon your shoulders, never losing sight of the value of trust in God and the period of serious reflection which should accompany every important decision that you are called upon to make. May the years which lie ahead bring you unending joy, happiness and satisfaction which re- sults from a job well done. As this tenth graduating class prepares to leave our school I realize that a great number of young people can call Levittown Memorial High School their Alma Mater. To the Class of 1963 I send my sincere wishes for a suc- cessful future. You are now part of a grow- ing number of alumni who will long be remembered. MR. BUTLER MR. MILLS

As we give consideration to the peo- ple of this world we are, often times, too hasty in our decisions as to which ones are most important to us. Our unit of society is the family; this is true in all of our civilizations, either past or present. Hence it fol- lows that the most important people to us are the members of our family. Our very survival for the first twenty years of our lives is made possible in the home. Our concepts of right and wrong are developed here. Much of our for- mal and practical education comes from the interest and effort of family members. It would be impossible for us to measure what we owe our parents. Also it would be equally impossible to repay these obligations. Our only solution is for us to be determined that when we become heads of family units to do as well or better for our children.
