The linksters first tourney was the Lubbock Invitational where they blew a 20-stroke, second-place lead to end up with a third-place finish. Hereford was next on the schedule and again the team lost a first-day fifth-place position to an embarrasing tenth-place finish. Traveling next to Muleshoe the golfers missed second by one stroke, losing to Muleshoe. The Clovis Tourney paid off for the team, which brought home a second-place trophy. The team journeyed next to Denver City , where they missed second by only a few shots. Then, their season seemed to be reversedg they left their losing ways and started winning. At the Levelland Invitational the golfers won first, and at the District Tourney they came from an underdog position to grab second, beating runner-up favorite Perryton by 12 strokes. With one victory and two second place finishes, the team traveled to the regional tournament in Andrews for the third straight year. But the TOP: Coach Huffman shows the team - How it's done . Twirp Week was from May 3-7 . The first day was a people sale as slaves were bought for discount prices. Everyone reverted to their childhood on Tuesday with Kid Day. A magician also performed. Wednesday was the messiest day of them all as supposedly mature young men crammed each others face full of cream pie. May 6 , 1976 became May 6, 1956 with 50's Day. The DOC, Junior Chapter DOC, and the Phantoms were all out in full rumbling attire . At the sockhop at lunch a fake rumble occurred , but fortunately no one was hurt. Friday was Almost Anything Goes and just about everything did, including the tug-o-war rope. The Sophs won the day's activities and got into the dance free that night.
