The Football Varsity Volleyball coaches talked. The rest of the was Freshman initiation things for other classmen. To end the week was a parade football game. This was a time that we shared memories. UNDERCLASSMEN The underclassman have a lot to look forward to. These people have strived for all they have achieved. For others, they are just here to say that they have been here. Others are trying to become something more than they all ready are or just to be themselves. This year's volleyball team featured eight returning letter winners and six enthusiastic underclassmen. The result was a 19-3 season including the conference and district championships. The highlights of the season included well played matches with Lanesburo and a come from behind victory in the district finals against Caledonia who was first seed. The success of a season cannot always be measured with a win-loss record, however. A very important part is in the development and maturation of each player. We made gains in that area, and with that we look forward to the 1988 season. Three team members were also selected to the newly formed All-Conference Team. This group of young men got better and better as the season progressed. Our 8-3 record put LeRoy-Ostrander on top as the best won loss record of any team in Southeastern Minnesota in the last ten years. We are excited and determined as we look ahead to 1988. Lori Miller, and Melanie Hovde The success of the 1987-88 girls' basketball team cannot be measured by the record of wins or losses, but rather by the improvement in attitude, individual skill, and teamwork. By utilizing good shot selection and fast breaking, the L-O team was a contender in several games this season. Throughout the season, the girls' basketball team demonstrated character in maintaining a positive attitude and putting forth their best effort for each game. The team showed improvement at the end of the season by qualifying for the District Championship and then loosing to Alden by only one point in an exiting match that showed great promise for next year. GMLO had two individual District Champions, Dennis Bly (105) and Troy Watts (Hwt ). Five wrestlers advanced to the Region Tournament.
