SMILE A A unit that deserves some praise, for all of its hard working days, for those who tried, got mad and riled, to make it better than its been for quite a while. For going to the five, fifteen, and ten, for blowing a whistle until he's blue, screaming and playing until we're hoarse, marching until we're pooped, of course, playing On Wisconsin (a stupid song) to keep somebody satisfied, (but not for long), for freezing, sweating and wanting to kill all the corp commanders, and still hearing MOVE!!! L.O.H. S. ! Shut up! Don't move! Ever been hit by a whistle?! These reasons for praise could go on and on so far, but did we have fun???? !!?? Har de Har Bar!!!!! January always a cold month at LOHS found a hot item in the band room meet ing twice a week, three hours per meeting. The Stage Band spent many hours of work, frustration, failure, success, as they laid the foundation for a dedicated group of students, dedicated to a Great Sound. Performing at many events the highlight of the bands accomplishments was the Eau Claire Jazz Festival where they represented the school at its best. Linda Barker, Senior, was awarded with a certificate for her outstanding musicianship on her flute solo. The remaining stage band members will miss the seniors, but will keep the spirit up for the year to come. Thanks Seniors! Madrigal performed many times this year, also at many churches. Again this year the L-O Pops Group won a star at the state contest. C ongratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 1973-74 Basketball Season started with the team falling in to a win one, lose one pattern which continued to the Christmas break. February found the team getting back together winning 4 of the remaining games for a 7-12 season record. No matter how hard you work, you may never get what your striving for. Our seniors: S. Stohr, K. Baumbach, S. Scaglione, D. Yost did acheive pride for our school. Each of these boys will be hard to replace. However, we have some young boys coming along who should help us next year. 68 A BASKETBALL CHEERLEADERS B SQUAD WE THEY Rushford 58 56 Grand Meadow 57 21 Southland 20 55 Lyle 53 42 NAME Games Average Spring Valley 44 43 Lanesboro 46 63 Harold Berg 11 11.6 Riceville 57 22 Wykoff 38 41 Craig Hutchins 17 10.3 Chatfield 63 55 Preston 35 58 Craig Tangen 17 9.4 Grand Meadow 57 34 Harmony 62 49 A1 Barker 18 9.0 Spring Valley 45 60 Lanesboro (O. A WRESTLING After a rather impressive start of 7 straight dual meet victories, the L-O H. S. wrestling team dropped 3 of its last 4 dual meets, ending the season with an 8-3 record and finishing 2nd in the Maple Leaf Conference. The only two wrestlers placing in the District Tournament were Bill Olson, who placed 4th, and Bret Baumbach, who placed 3rd and also advanced to the Regional Tournament. Graduating from this year's term are Bob Christenson, Tom Nagel and Ken Hovde. Although these three boys will be missed, things look good for next year's wrestling team with 10 of the 13 lettermen returning. The highlights of the year were Craig Nagel breaking the Jr. High discus record with a throw of 122' 6 and Kevin Kinter going on to the region in the 100 yd. Dash. 79 SNOW WEEK Some people look at snow as something to shovel off of sidewalks or get stuck in, but not us. Why, we manufactured a dinosaur, a turtle, spiders and two kissing fish, not to mention the recycled coke bottle, which received first place, all out of snow, of course. We held a test of strength , with the eighth grade the winners, a trike race with the Freshmen pulling off first place and the sled race with the Juniors running away with first. The overall winners of our week of frollicking in the snow were the Seniors in first, the Juniors in second and the eighth grade in third. BALL A S E ROW 1: Mike King, Steve Johnson, Kirk Baumbach. There we enjoyed 2 days of sun, swimming and sleep. Dancing and talent show occupied our evenings along with a trip to Fun City and Go Karting. Thursday brought rain and the trip home, only to return us to school for 7M more days! 87 COMMENCEMENT Riding down the highway, seventy miles an hour I concentrate on the white lines, not connected, but following one after another, Life is like that, one day after another, time moves on so I must move on down the road trying to put the lines together so I can understand the traveled miles of my life. Maybe then I will be able to enjoy the many untraveled miles that are before me, but first I must connect the white lines. 88 LeROY FARMERS CO-OP Grain Stock LeRoy, Minnesota Lumber Elevator Implement 324-5101 324-5242 324-5201 OSTRANDER FARMERS CO-OP Lumber Elevator Fertilizer 657-2237 657-2235 657-2239 LeROY WASH-O-MATIC Dick and Mary Pisney Mobile Homes Congratulations Seniors HANSON TIRE SERVICE INC.
