If the won and lost record Is the only thing considered, you would have to say this was an unsuccessful season. But If you take into consideration what was really gained and accom-pllshed during the year you begin to see a different picture. Such things as working together as a teas, the sportsmanship gained, and the determination and hard work displayed. All of these things will be a tremendous benefit to each and every athlete in his later years. Therefore, you can come up with only one conclusion. With the arrival of a new band director, we learned a number of new routines which we performed during halftime of all home games. With Christinas around the comer, we started playing Christinas music and presented a concert shortly before Christinas. After the concert we had a dance in the old gym. In January, we had the privilege of hearing the Augustana College Band, of which Mr. Sherburne was a former member. Spring meant contest, hard practice, and concerts. We had many ensembles as well as solos entered in the contest. Our school was also the host for the district large group in April and the host for the regional-state contest in May. Over all this year has been very active, educational, and enjoyable. 32 Left to Right; Row One - Harlan Larson, !• Ian Rosenthal, Debbie Peters, Lila Peterson, Barb Mossyge, Rachel Hanson, Charleen Hutchins. The F.T.A. has once again oroved to be fun for members and helpful to the teachers. Those in the organization helo teachers in both the elementary and high school, and many of them teach occasionally in the grade school. Vfe have been quite busy this year. We worked at conferences as hosts and hostesses and had an evening orogram and tea to honor former teachers. Our December meeting was made more interesting by having college kids who were former LeRoy students tell us about their college. In this way we could get a better idea of what some of the area colleges were like and have a students point of view of his or her college. Some of the things we participated in were F.T.A. day at Mankato State College, and the F.T.A. exchange of students. Five students from LeRoy exchanged with five from Lakeville for two days in February. It was a lot of fbn as well as educational for those participating. PAPER STAFF Throughout the school days of LOHS students, the Red and White Reflector has been the official newspaper of the entire student body. It recorded the many events that occurred during the 1967-1968 school year. The staff was divided into four main divisions which are as follows: Layout and typing, sports, feature, and news. An editor was chosen for each division. They are Peggy Larson, Marilyn Hindt, and Rick Lageson. This year our paper acquired a new look. Instead of sending the outline to the LeRoy newspaper staff, the school staff did all of the work by using stencils. This was time consuming but it also saved money. By doing the entire paper ourselves, we were able to put one out more frequently. We feel that the paper was basically a success this year. It served as a quide to all of the Cardinal activities and was followed by a complete summary. The Red and White Reflector, as well as all other school sponsored organizations, offer a sense of pride to all who become involved. These activities and the students that belong to them, reveal a sense of respect end LOHS school spirit and help develop a true sense of responsibility and integrity in the individual. My wandering alnd caused we to swerve Into the other lane and a collision followed. Who should cliub from the other car Moaning, This is the third car this week, ■y dad will kill we, but Debra Reodahl. I assured her I was fully covered by Larry Krupke's Mutual of LeRoy. We heard sirens in the distance. They came closer and there was Sherrif Carlton Mess on the scene. He was closely followed by Dave Hanson, driving the ambulance for the Marts Hutchins Hanson funeral Home. Out joaped Dr. Lloyd Start who laaedlately fainted at the sight of blood beaause photographer Marilyn Hlndt had cut her finger on her caaera. Another siren approached, which proved to be the paddy wagon driven hf Jeannle Bye who is now running Jeannle Bye Paddy Wagons, Inc. I was shoved inside and we took off for the Justice of the Peace. We knocked on his door and were greeted by the butler Paul Nelson. He told us the Hooorable Cyndee Nelson would be with us shortly. Meanwhile I picked up the LeRoy Dependent to read the headline that stated Mick Skaran for President . It also said that Don Orua, who has aided the past three losers, was his caapalgn manager. I turned to the aovle listings for the LeRoy area. Soae of those listed were Oeorgie Boy, starring Rick Lageson, the playboy of LeRoy. Also listed was In Wara Blood featuring Francis Moe and Jere Volkart. I also found the latest Issue of Playboy to leaf through. It is now edited by Kerry Derry and their ace photographer Is Mark Klnter. The fold out for the aontb was Nancy Thorson. My lawyer, Mike Harrlngtoo, advised ae to plead guilty since he was sure I would be given only a ten dollar fine so I did. I was sentenced to two years of hard labor on Ruth Rodenzs Rough and Rugged Ranch for reckless drivers. I was dragged to ay cell by that heartless warden, Kaye Johnson. Her faithful assistant crackshot Christianson followed. Barb had sixteen notches lo her gun. The prison chaplain cams to visit ae. He Introduced hiaself as Reverend Hendrickson but asked ae to call hla Brother Mel. My first aeal arrived, brought in by Karen Ahrens. I took ooe bite and laaedlately gagged. I asked who was responsible for this. She said, Brian Johnson. Why, don't you like Blggy Brians Better Beans? I gagged again and asked her to send for the doctor. Janice Brownlow M.D. soon caae followed by her assistant Art Berg. She asked how he would diagnose this case. He was sure It was Japanese toe rot, but Jan knew It was just a stomach ache because aany people got this froa Brians Beans. She had to run right off, promising to look in on ae later, because she bad to help another lnaate, Grant Xlllogson who had gotten his head stuck In between the bars and stubbed his toe. Due to ay exceptionally good behavior I was soon up for parole. Fortunately for ae, ay parole officer was ay old friend Sue Sorenson. When I reminded her of all our good times she had to let ae off easy. So I climbed once more Into my car and took off. I decided to continue ay visit to LeRoy, which had been interupted for two years. As I rolled down the highway, I passed a large building, which was painted with the words Frankies Funny Farm Fertilizers, Frank Cuminge, President; Bob Volkart, Secretary. I also passed the towering Haaaon Eggs building. Julie Is the egg queen of the nation. Rit I began to notice a curious knock In ay engine and I caae to a sudden halt in the alddle of the road. Mot being mechanically inclined, I decided thh the road. Mot being mechanically inclined, I decided the only to do was call a garage. So I hiked on down the road to a house with an astonishing number of kids around. I spotted a familiar face in the crowd, Toe Bovde who proved to be the proud father of the brood, I stated ay purpose and he called Hey, Beb where is the phone7 Then I realized that this was Barb Winfield, from the good days. I called a garage and they assured ae they would have a mechanic out soon. Shortly after a pickup trucks caae zooming down the road and out hopped a greasy grimy mechanic. He was a real email guy bat he appeared to be competent. He finished the Job In short order and whipped off his cap to cool off. To ay surprise it was another of the old gang, Pat Stock. She told ae that she Is now employed at the MAM garage, working under Mary McDonald and Mary Meyers. I set out on ay way once again. Polling up to a red light, I noticed a huge white truck aloag side. The side read Slskow City Street Sanitation.Service, Linda Slskow, Propriety The side read Slskow City Street Sanitation Service, Linda Slskow Proprietor. Another familiar sane. Further down the street was a sign that pointed out Leonards Import Motors. Duane seems to be doing a booming business with Barb Hancock as his top sales nan. 66 My stomach told me It was tiwe to eat and since ay cupboards were bare I pulled into the nearest grocery store, Souhrada'a Super Service Super Market. Wien I walked down the aisles I realized how ■uch the world had changed during wy confinement. Steve Rice is now pictured on the Wbeatles package and Ardelle Jacobson is the new Little Miss Sunbeam. On my way down the aisle I met Don Hancock who iaforeed ae he has advanced to the position of head carry out boy. The check out girl, Sharon Davis told me of a recent counterfleting scare in the area. But, there was nothing to worry about since the gang of Mary Victorlne and Carol Marlow bad been apprehended. I lumped back into ay car just in time to bear the latest news. The expedition of Pine and Erie had aade a perfect landing on the moon. I pulled out of the parking lot and in my cooceotratioo on what I had learned about the lod gang I swerved into the wrong lane and there was a terrible erash. OH NO 1 Hot again.
