FOREWARD Slowly the years seem to roll by — one by one. Then, suddenly looking back, we realize how time has passed; slowly perhaps, but steadily as well. Those bygone years are never to be relived — except perhaps in memory. We hope that this edition of THE CARDINAL will serve to refresh your memory when you recall your carefree days at LeRoy High School. Annual Staff We, the Senior Class of Le Roy-Ostrander High School, Le Roy, Minnesota Dedicate the 1961 CARDINAL to our parents Seniors Donald Charles Daily (Don) Girl's don't bother me - darn it. President CLASS ADVISORS CLASS PROPHECY The month was November; the year Seventy-one. I thought I'd relax with my days labors done. When I switched on the T.V. it seemed like a dream Cause the 6l Seniors appeared on the screen. The T.V. Announcer said, Folks, you have a date To learn of the following Seniors fate. Way back in the hills of Kentucky, we find Mary Lou Eire brewing up corn whiskey with Harlan Thompson on the look-out for the law. Oh, oh, here comes Constable Kermie Nauman to haul them in. Warren Barrett and Charlotte Christensen are running a Keep Dry Diaper Service in Arabia. Sam Bettin is a prominent hair stylist in the best society circles, ladies flip over his latest style, Bettin's Bangs. Priscilla Christenson and Donald Daily are lumberjacks in Northern Minnesota. (I hear those northern winters get pretty cold, Don.) Denny Eire is now playing Second Fiddle for the Lawrence Welk Orchestra. Dick Grass is now a distinguished English teacher at Oxford. By the way, this is not surprising as English was always his favorite subject in high school. Will wonders never cease.' There is now only one tavern in Mclntire. Warren Harden seems to have this monopoly with his establishment, Harden's Hangout. Richard Harrington, better known as Tex , and his wife. Sherry Milbum, are living on a cattle ranch in Arizona. Between his horse skills and her cow punching, they make quite a team. Diane Hovde, Helen Martinek, and Rita Penning are hula dancers in Hawaii. Bill Back keeps them supplied with grass skirts. Gary Johnson has taken John Law's position as policeman for LeRoy. His main problem is getting the students off the streets at curfew time. His wife, Sharon Byrd, is more concerned with getting him off the streets. Janet Jones is a beatnik at Greenwich Village. That wild life is going to get you down, Janet. Sharon Lastine is a Can-Can Girl at one of the Las Vegas gambling casinos. Tom Lawson is chief fireman for the Ostrander Fire Department. Matronly Pat Bly considers him quite a hero when he saved her by using mouth to mouth respiration. Alice Meyers is a famous opera singer. She opens next week at Carnagie Hall. Her most ardent fan and eccentric millionaire, Gary Norby, is buying up all of the tickets. David Orke has just convinced the Mayor of LeRoy to make Main Street into a drag strip. That doesn't sound like you, Davet?? You always believed in obeying those speed zones. Earl Paulson is a politician for the Democratic Party. Right now he is running for the office of Commissioner of Manholes. Tessie Jo Payne does lipstick commercials on N.E.C.K. Television. Denny Johnson assists in proving that brand x really is smear proof. Mary Lou Quale and Kaye Iverson are the Worlds Champion Batan Twirlers. They say they owe their success to the experience they got at LeRoy High School. Mary Runde and Dianne Hopp are Santa's elves at the North Pole. They have the tassel caps; now all they need is some elf boots. Bev Soltau is quite the poet. She just won the Pulitzer Prize in Literature for her latest rhymed , Hay in May. Don Tapp and Karen Stockdale work together in the lingerie department of Macy's Department Store in New York City. Keep your mind on your work, Don. On second thought, maybe you'd better notl Gwen Ullom runs a dance school. She is known the world over for her new step, the Ballet Bounce. Keith Ahrens is her best instructor and her favorite partner. Verl Volkart is salesman for the Puss N Boots Catfood Company. He recently sold a large order to the LeRoy Dog Pound. He always could sell anything. Jan Whisler is quite successful. He is the president of the Cadallac Corporation. His advice to all young fortune seekers is Save those green stamps. Retha Wyatt runs an old people's home in Alaska. We hear she really keeps those Eskimoes hoppingt Dave Bredeson has just published a book, How to Get the Most Out of High School . I am sure you haven't forgotten his previous novel, Payton Place. I heard the announcer say, It's time to part. All of a sudden I sat up with a start. Now was I just dreaming or was that for real! I really don't know. How do you feel?
