At noon a parade was held down main street and back to the schoolhouse. Then at night a program was presented by the Sophs with all the Freshmen taking part. Toby and Barbara made the cutest class babies and Bob Brownlow was a gorgeous bathing beauty. Note: It’s a good thing lipstick is cheap ! The next great event of our Sophomore year was Homecoming. The judges awarded first prize to our float which represented the theme “Keep the Wolves From Our Door.” The queen of our float, Colleen Iverson, stood by the door of the house guarded by a Le Roy football player, Leonard (Chesty) Remer, who protected her from Spring Valley’s Wolves, (Dale Kinter and Marvin Winkles). Now we come to the great sports stars of our class. They are: Russ Triplett, GordyMeyers, Roy Johnson, Keith Knight, Bob Larson, Bill Regan and Toby Spellman. They have shown a great amount of fighting spirit and ability this year and we are sure they will be some of the greatest stars Le Roy School has ever had. December 17, 1947 the Sophomore girls held their Hospitality Dinner which was served to the school board and their husbands or wives. The dinner menu included frosted cocktail, roast beef, fish, mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus, buttered corn, rolls, relish plate, cranberry salad, ice cream, cookies and coffee. The dinner was enjoyed by all. A class party was held in the gym on February 1 6. Games were played and refreshments were served. Of course everyone went right home afterwards?? P. S. Wonder what those two station wagons were driving around town so much for ? Band! That was just Winkles and McGuillivary making hydrogen in Biology class. Unfortunately no one got hurt by the flying glass and acid. If it is, it isn’t, and if it isn’t, it is. Where have we heard that before? Ah, me. Geometry class, which also reminds us of J. B.’s motto “stall for time.” So goes a Soph’s year as time marches on.
