What was spirit? The Lions Lark and pep assemblies, Buying a pep ribbon, Helping your class win the trophy, Football games and Leo, Mrs. Honey Batchelor, Singing Dixie and other school songs, Cheering the teams to victory, Writing R.C. Cola cards for the radio Chorus and band, Waving the school flag, And singing the alma mater, This was spirit. An inner quality of loyalty and pride, A sense of belonging, The power to make things happen, For spirit was contagious And once let loose It splattered over everyone, Covering some more than others.
