OUR CORNERSTONE During your years at Leominster High you have often heard it said that you are the citizens of tomorrow. Somehow that did not have much meaning to you as sophomores, juniors, and during much of your senior year. Suddenly you find yourselves high school graduates who are no longer able to lean on your teachers for assistance. Many of your problems must be solved by you, and how you handle these problems will show how well you handled the education that was available to you in the past twelve years. Remember, the education that you have received is merely a key which is to be used by you to open doors of opportunity. The future of our country is in the hands of you people. May you use the education that you have to good advantage so that we will continue to flourish in a free America. SJ keodsu Hecetiarete

SCHOOL COMMITTEE Back row, left to right: Francis McCann, Miss Raphacla Picucci, Mrs. Dorothy Ricker, William B. Appleton, Nilo Tocci. Front row, left to right: W. Herbert Green, Mayor Ralph W. Crossman, Mrs. Alphonsine A. Carluccio. SUPERINTENDENT WILLIAM B. APPLETON, A.B., Ed.M. Without the constant guidance of our school committee, we could never have built so solid a foundation upon which to base our future. We have pictured them here as the actual plans which are so vital to our success in high school. It is to this committee that we owe our sincere grati- tude for laying the plans of the first lap of our journey in life. . To William B. Appleton, our Superin- tendent, we wish to express our thanks. His expert planning and counseling proves that he places our welfare before his own. His keen sense of humor and countless anecdotes have kept us amused at past assemblies and graduations. Surely we have been fortunate to have such able and willing assistance in our many successful projects throughout our high school years.

Above we have pictures of some of our teachers as they appear outside the classroom. Many of them do interesting and worthwhile things. We would like to mention especially Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Bucknell, who are pictured here with Maurice Afoufa, the boy whom the French Club brought to America to live and have our opportunities for a year. Maurice has had a wonderful visit in America seeing places out West as well as our cities of the East, such as New York, Boston, and Washing- ton, D. C. He has been a student like the rest of us and done the same things we do with his wide circle of friends. We are indebted, however, to the Bucknells, who have taken him into their home and treated him like a son. Because of this Maurice could never feel lost or alone and he has had the chance to see how our American families live. It has been a rich and satisfying experience for all of us to see the dream of having a foreigner come to live with us be- come a reality. We will never forget the French Club projects that helped to raise the money for the undertaking and we will never forget the wonderful times we have had with Maurice. We wish him the best of everything in life and we hope that this will be another step in promoting lasting friendship be- tween America and France.
