PRESS CLUB Although the extra-curricular life of Leominster High during the school year has been highlighted by numerous functions and organizations, the most constantly active organization is the L. H. S. Press Club. Under the capable guidance of John F. Joyce, faculty adviser, the Press Club turned in its weekly sheet of ‘Senior High Notes,’’ published in the Leominster Enterprise, on a weekly deadline, sponsored an assembly which is to become an annual feature at L. H. S., provided a plentiful source of information on all school activities, and served generally as an aid to the student body and faculty alike in promoting other school functions and organiza- tions and in gathering news. With the aid and advice of the editorial board of the Leominster Enterprise, the ‘Senior High Notes’’ have reached a pinnacle of success during 1946-1947. Always highlighted by a large school news story or a ‘‘Scoop,’’ Press Club's sheet also contained notes on assemblies, alumni, club activities, reports from the Principal, Faculty, and Student Cabinet, and other special features. The ‘Training Table,’’ unique sports column of the sheet, covered school athletics and the ‘Inside dope”’ on L. H. DRAMATIC CLUB The Leominster High School Dramatic Club under the able suvervision of Miss E. Lillian Ricker had its start several years ago, and, until this present year, was known as the Speech Club. Although the name has been changed, the traditions of the organization have remained unaltered, and the Interclass Play Contest and Recital Night are still presented annually. Innovations, other than the name, include the drafting of a constitution and an additional dramatic show to be presented regularly every spring. The Dramatic Club aims to give its members ample knowledge of directing, producing, and acting in theatrical productions. Stage-setting and make-up application are two of the behind-the-footlights activities studied by the group. Also, one meeting every month is set aside for the reading of plays, in order that the members may learn to appreciate artistic writings and to discern between good and bad stage fare. CHORAL CLUB The Choral Club consisted of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who desired to do chorus singing each week during X period. The Club took part in several school assemblies and Thursda y morning sings. A little trouble presented itself to the group this year when Miss Lucile Brown, regular Music Director, acquired a leave of absence; nevertheless the club progressed rapidly under the able leadership of Mrs. Hugh B.
