Jo Bob Wonkka ... TO BOB WONKKA We all admire Bob Wonkka for the courageous spirit he has shown since he was afflicted by the dread disease, infantile paralysis. Since he has been hospitalized, Bob has been missed by his numerous friends, many of whom have visited him frequently. As a token of their friend- ship and in appreciation of his contribution to his class and to the school, the class of 1947 presented him with a radio. The Thanksgiving Football Game was broadcasted directly to him at the Children’s Hospital in Boston where he rooted with the rest of the fans, wishing he could be out on the field, fighting to win the most cherished game of the year. Although an active athlete before polio struck him, he has taken this sickness in stride and is in no way dampened in spirit. 20

Ss 1 Mc ed — — Ce ACTIVITIES The many organizations at L. H. S. take up a large portion of time in the weekly life of our community. Not only do they provide interesting and intelligent activities for the students, but, also, they advance the welfare of the whole community. Most clubs meet weekly for a forty-five minute period. Officers elected at one of the meetings, lead the clubs. In this way, the students are given a wonderful opportunity to use their own ideas and to work together, promoting better citizenship for future years. Each club offers different occupations. This variety gives the members an excellent chance to indulge in the line of work they like and for which they are best fitted. Each group is supervised by a member of the faculty. Because of the generosity of time and effort put into the clubs by both the students and the teachers, these organizations are always a great success. al
