Members of the Student Council were: TOP TO BOTTOM, Marty Geffre, president, Lorraine Gef- fre, vice-president, Linda Mack, secretary, Karley Hoffman, Melody Weisser, Melvin Schanzenbach, Kay Albrecht, Jeff Hoffman, Jane Yost, Suzi Zulk, and Jim Guthmiller. High school principal Mr. Marvin Maule also taught a German class. «i Mrs. Mary Schaffer was the school’s business man- ager. Serving as the elementary principal was Mr. Mylo Hoffman. Leola School District Faculty Form Leola Education Association The Leola Education Association, LEA, is comprised of the teachers in the Leola School District and includes both the high school and elementary levels, as well as the Long Lake School and Hutterite colonies. This year's officers were: president, Mrs. Doris Hepperle, secretary, Mrs. Jean Guffey, and treasurer, Mr. Richard Jasmer. The negotiating team, working on behalf of all the teachers, included Mr. Mick Guffey, Mrs. Phyl Young, and Mrs. Bernice Pade. New teachers joining the staff this year were: Mr. Richard Jasmer, who replaced Mr. Paul Kindelspire, Mr. Dale Waysman, who replaced Mr. Larry Goins, Mrs. Nancy Scott, who replaced Mr. James Goehring, Mrs. Virginia Blank, who replaced Miss Pat Rahrick, Mrs. Alverde Daniel, who replaced Mrs. Vicky Tipton, and Mrs. Gay Gallas, who replaced Mrs. Jean Volk. Northern State College, Aberdeen, South Dakota, sent three practice teachers to Leola this year. They were Miss Kathy Wilson, elementary and high school vocal instructor, and Miss Betty Jensen, elementary and high school band instructor, student teaching under Mr. Jim Ochsner and Mr. Mick Guffey, respectively, and Miss Deb Beste, student teaching under Mrs. Phyl Young in the first grade. Mrs. Virginia Blank taught English II, III, and TV. She also advised the annual and paper staffs and the junior class. Mr. John Daly taught the shop classes during the year. He served as assist- ant football coach and B team basketball coach. He advised the Seniors. Mrs. Alverde Daniel instructed the home eco- nomics classes. She was class advisor. Mr. Duane Daniel in- structed the driver educa- tion class and eighth grade English. He also served as guidance counselor and freshman class advisor. Faculty 11
