Pieces of eight mulcted from guests that evening were doled out to crew bodies for their person- al projects. The evening before, the Pirates entertained with skits and songs. Opening the season with their first win over Ashley in three years, the Pirates packed into their sea chest a record of 20 wins against 11 losses. Forcing the Cheyenne Indians to walk the plank in their first game with us, the Pirates were later scalped by the Indians In a return game, fop teams in the state-Agar, McLaughlin,Eureka, and Cresbard(3 times)—as opponents kept the Pirates at their target practice and rewarded them with a 7 to 1 conference standing. High men on the mast were Larry Jundt,foreward; Arlin Grabowska,center; LeRoy Haul,foreward; Gary Breitag,guard;Melvin BreI tag,guard. New blue uniforms with white lettering, including warm-up jackets, helped the Pirates maintain their smart, clean-cut appearance.
