Old Pi ate Petmn 7o Jlo Uto Gail Heagley and LeRoy Adam reigned over Pirate Day as Homecoming queen and king. Initiating the seamen coming up from boot training was the sophomore task,The Pirate defeat of the Ashley team on the gridiron was celebrated by a dance in the evening, Esther Haul, Judge, presided over Kangaroo court which was, like all Pirate courts, very fair and Just and sentenced only the innocent and the guilty to walk the plank. Best-dressed Pirates pictured on page two, reading from the ends,are Linda Dumil and Donald Hammrich, representatIng the lower four grades;Ruth Lapka and Stephen Becker, upper gradesjand LaDonna Vilhauer and Dar- rel Schaible, high school. Ranking as able-bodied seamen, the freshmen pictured on page 20 are endeavoring to qualify as able-minded also. Full-fledged Pirates since the rites pictured below, they are active participants in all school functions. As they progress in classes and ratings, we predict they will hold the Jolly Roger high and bring honor to LHS. Objection overruled! Stars guided the Three Wise Men, too. SEVENTH GRADE A series of new music books which will be used throughout the grades made the seventh graders happy,too. Records accompany the books, and four record players were purchased for the grades with carnival funds. Seventh graders were proud to see their candidates, Leta Ehley and Robert Hehn, crowned carnival prin- cess and prince.
