The climax of the evening was the coronation of the Junior candidates, Melvin Tuscher,and Audrey Lapka, as king and queen. Their attendants were: senior-Ralph Sears and Luella Breitag; Sophomore-Carl Rogers and MaryAnn Geffre; and freshman-Ardella Kamm and Paul Schuchordt. They were crowned by last yearns king and queen, Jeannette Walth and Fred Hilgemann. Shirley Swanson and Marcella Balliet sang a duet. Pirate Day, held on October 15, began with the initiation of the freshman class by the sophomores. Following this, Me rl Schanzenbach and Joyce Opp were choeen as Pirate King and Queen. The parade began at 11:0C with Mel- vin Tuecher again serving as Pirate Day Marshal. Each float depicted an adage or quotation. The senior float won first prize. In the afternoon the Pirates lost the football game to Eureka and the festivities were brought to a climax with the homecoming dance at the high school gym featuring Bill Klitz orchestra tW i »• 1 £ I i ■ .. 3 - - I

The Lettermen1e Club is composed of the athletes of Leola High School, who have earned an athletic letter in any one sport.
