G. A., Science Club of Leola High School have just become affiliated with Science Clubs of America, soon- pored by Science Service, the in ptitution for the popularization of science. The local group is one of thou- sands belonging to the national body. Clubs in every state, for- eign countries and possessions are affiliated and all carry out prog- rams of study in science. CARNIVAL Extensive preparations are be- ing made for high school carnival to be presented Saturday night January iDtn. As previously pub- lished, persons will be charged admission according to their weight. Tne highlight of the ev- ening will be the coronation of the king and queen at twelve o'- clock. Candidates from the var- ious classes have been chosen competition for this honor, public is urged to attend. A gala evening will be had by all. LEOLA DEFEATS EKCLA AT HECLA The Leola Pirates got off to a good start this season by defeat- ing the Hecla Comets by a score of 36 to 1 . They are noplng that talent scouts were in attend- ance and are awaiting Hollywood contracts. PUBLIC ADDRESb SYSTEM On Tuesday a representative from the Midwest Supply Co. of Sioux Falls, S'. Dak. Demonstrated one of tneir public address sets to the students wno plan to pur- chase a set with tne profits rec- eived from the carnival. The salesman snowed a few comedi s and short subjects on the screen which amused the stuaents for 45 minutes. PHOTOGRAPHER HERE Okay, boys and girls, put on your best nip and tucker and get ready for tne foty-graferM. Word was received last week that 0. G. Cromwell of O'Neil, Neb. will be in Leola on January 14, 15, 16 inclusive. He will take most of the school pictures the first day. Inis year there are fewer restric- tions, that mean's more pictures. Tne prices will be the same as last years. The ping-pongs (two- poses) are 3b£ per dozen (tax in- cluded. ) The group picturers are -gain 26£ apiece (tax included.) The Crasy Smith Family le a etory centered around a an» 11-town football hero who doesn't know Just exactly how good he really la. Sorae of the larger schools think he la a sensation and each wants him to enroll In their school, but poor Tony has promised his best girl that he would attend the State College with her. Bar- bara cuts their relationship because she doesn't want to stand In the way of his career, but they make up again after Tony decides to go to college with her. Tony's brother and sister enlighten the play lth their pranks and misbehavior. Sally, the artist of the family, Is crazy about art and no one appreciates it except one of her beaus. Aunt Bella has her troubles too, trying to get Professor Slattery to pronose to her. The entire play Isa mixed up affair but it irons out micely at the end. Miss Priscilla Carter has taken her two nelces, Jill and Marian Carter, there to keep them away from the play-boys, Jack Loring and Frank Marlow. But the two boys find the hide-out and try to scare Miss Carter away, but they are scared instead by two gangsters who are using the house for a hide- out and don't want to be uncovered. The gangsters are finally discovered and Mies Carter apologises to the two play-boys for under-estimating them and all ends well.
