rm A school annual should portray a cross section of school life as inter- preted by and through student initiative, interest, experience, and atti- tudes. As such it represents the culmination of purposeful activities permeated with desirable educational values worthy of the best efforts of any group of students. In publishing the BUCCANEER of 1938, Leola's first, the Senior Class has met these requirements and objectives. Aside from the assist- ance rendered by Miss Mary and Mr. Dan K Jones on the artistic em- bellishments the entire project is the product of student activity. The class initiated the idea and selected the staff members who, acting in their respective capacities, arranged effective financial management, organized sequence and scope of content, did much of the photography, composed all the reading matter, and handled all details of production with minimal faculty supervision. The Staffs success in depicting stu- dent life in Leola school classes, organizations, and activities will be measured by the treasured memories the scenes displayed may conjure in the minds of the students in the years that follow. The standard achieved and the benefits derived from the production cf this annual are a memorial to the Annual Staff, especially its Coordinator, Warren Giedt,--wholly an estimable antecedent for future BUCCANEERS Faculty Counselor
